Coconut Water
Blended with crushed fruit, icoco coconut water is available in Cherry Vanilla, Pineapple and Minted Apple, with each of the three varieties rich in Vitamin C, fat free and high in naturally occurring electrolytes, which replenish the body and prevent dehydration. These three flavours give an alternative to the run of the mill flavours currently consumed and they offer a healthy and natural refreshment whilst on the golf course.
There is increasing consumer awareness of the benefits of coconut water, according to market research, with the emerging coconut water market forecast to be worth £100m within three years. This has led to the development of the icoco brand, which is 50 percent natural coconut water from handpicked coconuts from tropical rainforests in Indonesia and Thailand for a much greater taste than the Brazilian alternative, and 50 percent fruit juice, with no nasty ingredients.
Bursting with flavour, icoco is free of preservatives, artificial sweeteners and colours in line with ICONIQ's vision to create inspiring drinks for today's health-conscious society. icoco drinks contain naturally occurring electrolytes. Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant despite changes in your body. When you exercise, you lose electrolytes in your sweat, particularly sodium and potassium. These electrolytes must be replaced to keep the electrolyte concentrations of your body fluids constant.
Because of these benefits, the naturally isotonic range is being promoted by British athlete and former world record holder Steve Cram MBE in the run up to next year's Olympics. Steve Cram along with Jim Panton founded the charityCOCO(Comrades of Children Overseas) which was set up in 1998 to raise much-needed funds for the children of a small war-torn community in Bosnia, where Jim was stationed. Running a 52-mile marathon, the same distance as The Comrades Marathon held each year in Jim's home country of South Africa, they and a handful of Army officers succeeded in raising vital funds for the community. The charity continues to raise money to be able to work with some of the world's most vulnerable children in an attempt to give them the opportunity not only to survive, but also to strive towards a healthier, happier and more fruitful way of life. With every purchase made of icoco 2p goes towards the COCO charity.
The range is ambient, with a 12 month shelf life and they come in 250cl single servings, which fit neatly into any golf bag - a highly portable size compared with larger 330cl alternatives. Currently icoco coconut water can be purchased nationwide at Waitrose.

- Pure Coconut water is an acquired taste, maybe try getting some with a flavour to it, such as pineapple or apple. Try Icoco

- Having grown up in the Philippines, I drank coconut water all the time. But, I am only now realizing how beneficial it is and I'm going to start drinking it more often. Thanks for writing about it.
