Using the AC 130 kill streak reward in Modern Warfare 2
For the longest time, I was consistently frustrated with the number of kills I was able to get with the AC 130 kill stream reward in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I have since learned a few tips that has increased the effectiveness of my time with the AC 130.
Tips for using the AC 130
Get the most out of this MW2 kill streak reward
The AC 130 comes equipped with three different guns. Originally I wasn't aware of this, but you can switch between them using the Triangle button on the PS3. I believe it's the Y button on the XBOX 360. No clue what it is for PC.The key to using the AC 130 is to minimize the wait time between shots. The best way that I have found to use the AC 130 is to fire the main round and switch to the medium cannon before the main round even hits the ground. Fire off as many medium cannon shots as you can until the medium cannon overheats. Then switch to the machine gun and use until it overheats. By this time, the main gun should be ready to fire again. Repeat this cycle for as long as you have the AC 130.

Aiming the guns on the AC 130
A few tips to help you hit your target
Aiming the guns on the AC130 takes a little bit of practice, but once you start to get the hang of it you can do some serious damage on the battlefield!
To accurately aim the guns on the AC 130, you'll need to pay attention to the direction that the AC 130 is moving. Since the AC 130 is moving, the munitions fired will travel to the ground at an angle instead of straight down. You will need to account for this as you aim. Learning to be precise with this takes some practice, so don't get frustrated if you do not get many kills the first few times you try it.

The AC 130 Advantage
Why use the AC 130 over other rewards
The Ac 130 is a very powerful weapon. Simply hearing the "AC 130 is overhead" audio is enough to make your heart start pounding. The intimidation factor alone is almost worth using the reward, but there are several other things that make the AC 130 a worthy kill streak reward choice.
Longevity
Unlike many of the other airborne kill streak rewards in Modern Warfare 2, the AC 130 is very difficult to shoot down. Not only does it take two stinger missiles to splash the bird, it comes equipped with two rounds of anti-missile flares. In short, it takes four stinger missile shots to take the AC 130 out. Most of the other flying kill streak rewards go out with one stinger missile and do not come equipped with anti-missile flares.
Multiple Guns
As stated in the tips section, the AC 130 has three different guns to choose from. While they are a bit tricky to get the hang of, they are extremely powerful once mastered.
