I received my book as a gift and once I began reading it I could not stop!
In this book you will discover....
-How to change what is keeping you back from achieving the kind of life you deserve
-Why other live the charmed life while you struggle, and never get what you want
-How to stop choosing the wrong kind of mate, and break out of the relationship trance
-Everyone has a secret and how your secrets control you..
This is only a few things Cody talks about in this book, I highly recommend reading this!!
Are you in a Trance? (Part One)
Trances can take you deep inside the most incredible places or take you on the wildest rides you'll ever experience. Still others can create powerful feelings inside that allow you to be the best you can be!The moment before you fall asleep is called the hypnogogic state. The moment you are just waking up, unsure of where you are is called the hypnopompic state. Every day you experience these two trance states and you are most susceptible to influence at these two times in your life. This is why you shouldn't fall asleep listening to the television or radio.
Lewis Carroll wrote the most incredible piece of hypnotic writing in history! Alice in Wonderland! Grab a copy of this amazing book off the bookshelf and begin reading the first 12 pages or so. Alice spies a rabbit who is carrying a watch. . . he disappears down a hole and she decides to follow . . . then she takes a pill . . . one makes her larger and another makes her small then she gets wider, then she gets thinner . . . continue reading the book and you will be totally engaged . . . yes . . . you will be in a trance.
There are all types of trances, i.e. the movie trance, the highway trance, the buying trance, the relationship trance, the work trance, the book trance, ad infinitum!
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist for over twenty-five years there is one thing I know for sure, what you hold secretly in your mind will eventually become your reality.
You go in and out of trance approximately twenty nine times a day. Hypnosis has proven to be successful as an alternative to anesthesia during invasive medical procedures such as an angiogram. It's routine application for stop smoking or weight loss is highly effective but what the majority of society isn't aware of is that it can help in controlling stress, and depression and the benefits can last for years if not permanently! It also helps individuals overcome addictive behaviors, fears (fear of success, fear of failure, fear of public speaking, fear of death), phobias (fear of spiders, snakes, open spaces), obsessive-compulsive disorders (stuttering, excessive washing of hands, throat clearing, obsessive checking, counting, superstitious disorders), anxiety, chronic pain and so on.
Despite many widely held misconceptions about hypnosis (due in part because of stage hypnosis) it has been scientifically proven that hypnosis is an effective tool in treating a variety of problems. A hypnotherapist assesses and refines the clinical application of hypnosis while exploring the underlying problem the client is experiencing. It has been documented by imaging technology that changes occur in the brain when an individual is in the hypnotic state. Hypnosis alters how individuals feel and think about their perceived problems. Because of the research done, it proves hypnosis is a legitimate option for clients whose needs have not been met by more modern methods.

Are you in a Trance? (Part Two)
To totally understand the therapeutic potential of hypnosis you first have to drop the notion that a person is under the control of the hypnotist. Also you have to forget about things like a swinging watch or crystal or a subject up on stage who dances around like Madonna or crows like a rooster. Hypnosis is not truth serum and it does not take away your control. Dr. David Spiegel, professor and associate chair of psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine and a leading expert on the practice says, "It's actually a way of enhancing people's control, of teaching them how to control aspects of their body's function and sensation that they thought they couldn't." "Hypnosis is a form of highly focused attention," says Spiegel, "an induced state of mind that enables people to alter the way they perceive and process reality."During a typical hypnotic session, the therapist will guide you into a state of receptive concentration. Once you are in the trance state the therapist makes specific suggestions to your subconscious mind to alter your perception and change what is bothering you.
Hypnosis is not some hocus pocus remedy and it's not just telling you what you want to hear. When you are in a trance the mind truly believes that what you are asked to imagine, hear, feel, taste or smell is real. You actually use hypnosis on yourself everyday with the constant repetition of certain thoughts.
It is a fallacy that you are weak or easily influenced if you can be hypnotized. Practitioners hear clients say they are don't want to loose control and they can't be hypnotized and this is true, you cannot be hypnotized against your will. If you want to be hypnotized you can be hypnotized. Also, the more intelligent you are the more hypnotizable you are. A person has to be able to follow suggestions and if you can't focus you will not go into a deep trance. The individuals that you see up on stage are truly hypnotized and are not intoxicated or faking it because they could not spontaneously follow instructions.
If you have something you want changed, hypnosis is extremely effective. In fact while watching your favorite show, notice when a commercial comes on, the commercial is louder than your regular show, colorful images cross the screen, a lot of emotion is used and notice how the word imagine is used over and over; yes, the advertisers are using hypnotic suggestions. Society is hypnotized ad nausea by the media every day. The family, friends and people you talk to everyday about the economy hypnotize you. This doesn't have to be your reality, instead chose your thoughts and self-talk wisely and notice how the changes begin to take place.

- This is an excellent question! If you have ever missed your exit because you were so deep in thought, this is how the waking state of hypnosis feels like. Hypnosis can feel light and tingly or heavy and warm. You feel drifty and floaty at times and other times you feel as though you are asleep. Individuals experience the hypnotic state in a variety of ways. When I work with a client I make sure they know something is happening. I give the suggestion that they will not be able to open their eyes no matter how hard they try or they won't be able to lift their arm because it simply is too heavy to lift. This gives the client's conscious and subconscious mind that something is happening. The client begins to relax further and further. Hypnosis is not a state of unconsciousness, no it is a highly concentrated state of consciousness. However because it is an altered state of consciousness the client may not remember some of the session. Have you ever rushed home, set your keys down and not remembered where you put them? Well, you were in a different state of consciousness then when you began looking for them. If you wish to find your keys without really looking for them, you must give your mind the suggestion that you are calm and relaxed and you want to know where you set your keys down. Then just relax and the answer will come to you. Hypnosis is a natural state of the mind and it is a way to renew the mind. Anytime you feel comfortable with the idea of being hypnotized I highly recommend that you try it. An hour of hypnosis is like getting eight hours of rest. I use self-hypnosis power programming CD's all of the time to keep my focused and on track.
