Great Movie Quotes
"Here's looking at you, kid."
We love movie quotes! We all repeat a movie quote once in a while. Movie quotes fit so many situations, they make us laugh and they make us remember our favorite movies. Even obscure quotes are gems because it's like an inside joke to those who know the movie.
Sometimes everything comes together to create movie magic and those famous movie quotes. Just think how many memorable quotes come from "Gone With The Wind" and "The Wizard of Oz"!
Have fun with your friends by quoting from a movie. Make them laugh. They'll often shoot back a movie quote of their own. Here are some of our favorites. Throw them around at your next party.

Movie Quotes Before 1930

Of course, the one that started it all is Al Jolson as "Jack Robin" aka "Jakie Rabinowitz" in the 1927 movie "The Jazz Singer."
"Wait a minute, wait a minute, you ain't heard nothin' yet!"
(this film is in the public domain)
And the next is the disastrous 1929 film of Shakespeare's "The Taming Of The Shrew" starring married silent-screen superstars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
Doug & Mary lived in the legendary Pickfair mansion although by this time their marriage was falling apart and they were reportedly living in separate wings of the house. (The story of Pickfair is fascinating in itself.) The strain between them is evident in this movie.
There's a legend that the screenwriter insisted on his name being credited as: "By William Shakespeare, with additional dialogue by Sam Taylor." If true, just... wow.
Movie Quotes from 1929's "Taming of the Shrew"

- "The sun? The moon. It is not sunlight now." Mary Pickford as "Katherine"
- "Hah. I say it is the sun that shines so bright." Douglas Fairbanks as "Petruchio"
- "I know it is the moon that shines so bright." Mary Pickford as "Katherine"

- "Oh. It is the sun." Mary Pickford as "Katherine"
- "Huh?" Douglas Fairbanks as "Petruchio"
- "Or, if you please, call it a... a candle. I vow it shall be so for you." Mary Pickford as "Katherine"
- "Nay, then you lie. It is the blessed moon." Douglas Fairbanks as "Petruchio"
- "Then, God be blessed, it is the blessed moon. But moon it is not, when you say it is not, for the sun changes even as your mind. What you will have it named, even that it is, and so it shall be so for Katherine." Mary Pickford as "Katherine"

- This was a very enjoyable lens as it brought back some memories of movies I had watched when I was so young. Some of those quotes still ring in my head sometimes. Such as hoe the absent minder professor came up with the word "flubber." I guess your lens is 100% now as I am your 20th "like".
