Before you buy anything from eBay, you should check whether the seller knows what he sells.

This is a question sheet what you should ask before you buy anything from eBay. Any coffee I mean. If they don't know 3 or more of them, tell them to prepare next time !

But why bother ??

Because, I suppose, you don't want to get scammed...

If you are buying coffee beans (green or monsooned) (((((Buying coffee beans is the sport of specialty roasters, if you have one in your town, ask him about beans.. )))))):

  • What type of plant did the beans come from (Arabica/Robusta)?

  • Where did the coffee come from?

  • Is it organic?

  • Is the farm big or small where it came from?

  • Is this A or better quality coffee?

  • What type of drying was used?

  • What type of milling was used?

  • How old is this coffee?

  • Was it exposed to oceanic air or other type of flavor altering factors?

If you are buying roasted coffee beans (this is the most popular type in eBay, so be prepared: there are loads of scammers..):

  • (all of the questions above)

  • Is this coffee blended or straight?

  • What type of roaster was used?

  • What type of roasts (Light roast, Medium, Full city, Full city+ etc...)?

  • How long ago was the coffee roasted?

  • Were any type of flavors added?

  • Is this decaf?

If the coffee is in ground form (this is rare, because coffee ground deteriorate fast, but you can buy coffee ground in a local coffee store so...):

  • (all the questions above)

  • What type of grinder was used?

  • What type of grind was used?

  • How long was the coffee in the roasted form?

  • How long ago was the coffee ground?

If the coffee is already brewed (yeah, well, don't ask these in starbucks because they would throw you out for holding the line.. but this is a nice conversation starter with the hot barista guy.. :D ):

  • (all the questions above)

  • What type of coffee maker was used?

  • How long ago was it brewed?

  • Is it a barista or professional who brewed this coffee?

  • Were any type of flavors added after brewing?
