If you're counting coffee calories you are obviously serious about losing weight. So, let's start with the good news. A cup of instant coffee is virtually free of calories. Just the coffee and water will ring up no more than 1- 5 calories.
The problems start when you add milk, cream, sugar and other extra flavors to your coffee.
And, of course filter coffee is higher in calories. Though filter is not too bad if you drink it on its own; say 10 to 15 calories.
The really bad news comes when you go to a coffee lounge and indulge in the real deluxe coffees.
A Starbucks 354 ml Frappuccino, Mocha, With Whip & Syrup, Tall will rack up 331 calories. So if you're serious about losing weight stay away from the extras and avoid the cakes at all costs.
The unfortunate point about coffee calories is that estra taste comes with a heavy calorie price tag.

I would just like to ad in that coffee is actually recommended by doctors to consume before physical activity because it promotes stronger muscles and gives you a better mental mindset. Calories needed to lose weight are important when you are trying to lose weight.

Just my 2 cents worth of opinion but I don't really think cofee could affect 2 much a person who has a healthy eating and exercising habit. In just 2 hours of swimming you burn away enough so you can eat anything 2 days(within good sense of course) and still be in shape. Some more info on eating properly if interested.
