Coffee and Asthma

coffee

A Harvard researcher studied 20,000 people and found that those who consume coffee have a third less of asthmatic symptoms as compared to those non-coffee drinkers.

Several studies found that coffee (caffeinated) can have very good benefits and one group who can have these positive benefits are those with asthma.

Consuming caffeinated coffee in an emergency bout of asthma can let asthma sufferers breath easier.

Medical journals have reported that drinking strong coffee may help open airways. This may help an onset in a emergency when no inhaler is available.

The link between caffeinated coffee and inhalers is found to be theophylline which have similar chemical properties.

Drinking coffee in an asthmatic onset, when no inhaler is available, likened to eating a candy bar in an emergency diabetic attack, when there is no medical treatment readily available.

About 90% of adults in North America consume caffeine on a daily basis. Caffeine is on the list by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a "Multiple Purpose Generally Recognized as Safe Food Substance".
