Comfortable Running Gear for When it is Cold
I enjoy running but find it hard to get motivated to run when weather looks ugly. Ironic because where I live the weather is rarely ideal. It's either raining, foggy, windy, or just plain cold. Which is why I choose to keep warm when training. When I looked initially for cold weather running gear, I asked around, and found that the best responses came from people I knew. One time when I asked a running goods store's employee on information on arm warmers and how they can be benificial, he responded with "honestly, I am more of a fair weather runner". This made me wonder how he got into a running goods store, because if that is true, he must run only a couple months of the year.

Cold, Wet, and Miserable
My worst day running
It was winter time and some of my team mates decided to go on a late night run. I tagged along, but it was my first night run. I didn't have anything warm to wear and run in..... I did have a jacket, but for some reason i figured we would be done fast enough that i would not need it. We went out, but were delayed by how long it took everyone to get ready. When we go on to the trail I found out how windy it actually was. I thought, "no big, I deal with wind all the time." The strong winds soon brought in clouds and a heavy rain, unusually heavy. The gravel path could not absorb the water fast enough. I was drenched, head to toe. It began to hail. It was strong enough to make us turn our faces sideways. We choose to stop at one of the guys house to wait out the storm. Everyone took off their wet jackets and gear, and hung around in the dry cloths they had underneath. I stood just right inside dripping with nothing but a towel a friend gave me, bits of hail stuck in my hair. I rarely run into situations like that but I now take more precautions in running wear.
These are some of the things I invested in.

Running Beanies
Keep Your Head Warm
When running in the cold you should not your head be unprotected from the environment. In fact a lot of body head is lost from your ears alone. If you do not take proper precautions, you could run a risk at getting sick. In turn greatly affecting your training schedule. Better safe than sorry when I choose to go out.
Gloves
Keep Your Hands Warm
I hate when my fingers feel numb. I feel that I can always take gloves off and hold on to them during the run. It's better to have them, than to be without.
Arm Warmers
Help Keep Your Arms Warm
While running your body seems to heat up, especially when it is cold out. The reason for this is all your blood rushes towards your core, in order to circulate blood flow with oxygen to what your body believes is most vital. This is the reason people choose to wear arm warmers. They warm your arms while preventing the feeling of over heating you may get from putting on another long sleeve shirt.
Running Jackets
Stay Warm with a Jacket
Some days you just need that extra something to stay warm. Staying visible may also be needed based on where you decide to run. Color is not always meant to be flashy. It is also a safety precaution. Some times if I choose to run at night, my routes go near to roads. I choose to be seen before it is too late. Protect yourself from cars, while you protect yourself from the elements!
These are similar to what I would wear on a regular cold day.
