The Best Little Indie Band from California
The minute I heard & saw the video for "Hang Me Out to Dry" on MTV one late, late night many years ago, I've been hooked on the Cold War Kids. I can't decide if it's Nathan Willett's haunting, androgynous voice or the tension-filled wailing of the music, but it doesn't matter; I'll still listen to them for hours on end and then pressing play again when it's all over.
Since you're here, I'm hoping you love them at least a little bit, or are maybe a friend turned you on to them and you're curious. Good news, either way. This lens is both an homage to one of my favorite bands, with videos of almost every song they've done, as well as a crash course on the vital Cold War Kids stats, with every album's track listing & the current tour dates, plus much more.

A Brief History
Jonnie Russell, Nathan Willett, Matt Aveiro, and Matt Maust started their indie band, Cold War Kids, in 2004 in Fullerton, California. They began with recording demos in Los Angeles, and, in the spring of 2005, they signed with Monarchy Music and released their first album, Mulberry Street EP. They soon generated quite a buzz--thanks to curious bloggers and the unusually good artwork of member Matt Maust. In 2006, they spent most of their time on tour with Tapes 'n Tapes, Figurines, Sound Team, and Editors, and showing up at Lollapalooza. That summer, they signed with Downtown Records (home to Gnarls Barkley and Art Brut, among others), and released their first full-length album, robbers & cowards, that fall.
