Camping on the Beach!
Plan your trip during summer

Planning
1. Choose a nice beach destination. Just because camping means roughing it does not necessarily require that you camp out in a remote beach area. Such place is not ideal for a novice beach camper. There are many nice beaches in Maryland that can be the perfect beach camping area for you and your family (or friends).
2. Camp in the summer. While seasoned beach campers have enough experience and skills to handle beach camping in fall or sprint (sometimes even winter!), beginners should choose to camp in the summer when the weather is more likely to cooperate.
3. Know the rules and regulations in the beach you have chosen. Check to see if they allow campfires, wood gathering and cooking over stoves. If you plan to bring pets, make sure they are allowed in the beach.
4. Find out if there is a good source of clean and fresh water. If there happens to be a stream, lake, river or spring anywhere nearby, make sure you treat the water first by filtering or boiling before drinking. And even if there is a water source, it will still be necessary to bring sufficient amount of water.
Packing and Cooking tips
Packing1. Create a checklist to ensure that you do not forget anything. The basic necessities include a tent, sleeping bag, stove, cookware, Coleman camping chairs, lanterns, flashlight, plates and eating utensils, army knives, matches, food, water, clothing, first aid kit, and personal supplies. Also, bring zip lock bags, which can be of multitude of uses during a beach camping trip.
Cooking
1. Place your stove in an area that is sheltered from wind. If you cannot find such spot, improvise and hang a tarp to block out wind. Place the tarp far enough from the stove so that it will not catch the flame from it.
2. Pre-measure ingredients and pre-cook meat or poultry at home to lessen cooking time at the beach.
3. Bring two coolers, one for food and the other for drinks. The cooler for drinks will probably be opened up frequently and by separating food in a different cooler, you will be able to save ice.
4. Always cover pots and pans when cooking to save time and fuel as well as prevent insects from landing on the food.

Other useful camping tips
Other beach tips1. Choose a good spot on the beach to pitch your tent. Opt for an area where the sand is very dry and is situated well above the high tide line. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the water the next day.
2. Keep valuables in sealable plastic bags to keep them from getting wet or from sand getting into them.
3. Use wet sand to wash your dishes. Its abrasive nature is effective in scrubbing greases and food particles away.
4. Dispose of your garbage properly. Never bury it under the sand or throw it out into the ocean.
Enjoying the beauty of nature!

A beach camping trip is one of the best ways to enjoy the splendid sights and beautiful coastline of Maryland. Maryland beaches, which are known for their exquisite view and splendid sand, would not only bring you closer to nature but would also give you a chance to bond with family and friends.
