Collagen is a protein naturally made that gives support to many areas of the body including skin, tendons and ligaments. Collagen has been used as a dermal filler since the early 1980s. It has been used to fill in wrinkles, facial lines, scars, and lip enhancement.

A small needle is used to precisely fill in wrinkles and scars. Topical and/or local anesthetic are used for pain control during injections. Injections near the lip can be quite painful and nerve blocking or numbness is suggested.

Complications of collagen injections may involve bruising, allergic reaction, and infection.

Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement injections is the process of professionally injecting dermal fillers into lip areas to enhance, add volume, or form the lips and decrease nearby wrinkles. The lips lose their volume naturally with time, and by replacing the lost volume can bring in a more younger appearing lips.

Enhancing the lips is not always about enhancing just the vermilion or red part of the lips. Filling around the lips may be just as important as filling the lips themselves. For example, correcting the fine upper lip lines, or lifting the corners of the mouth can all be just as important as enhancement of the lips themselves. Correcting one without the other can lead to an imbalance in the overall appearance of the lips.

Build Collagen Naturally

Collagen fibers are made from protein, and considered atypica in having large quantities of two amino acids, called hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline. Both of these amino acids seem to be important for collagen growth and are necessary to provide the various types of collagen with their sufficient amount of strength and flexibility.

This, food consumption with emphasis on foods high in lysine and proline would be especially supportive in growth of collagen. Unfortunately for vegetarians, animal foods are the main source of these two amino acids.

Proline, egg whites, have proven to be an extraordinarily beneficial source of proline. Although, one plant food with substantial proline is wheat germ.

Those are good starting points but one should know that while consumption of lysine, proline foods, collagen growth also involves vitamin C. This vitamin is rnecessary to change proline into hydroxyproline (the collagen form) and lysine into hydroxylysine (the collagen form).

While you are attempting to build a base for your collagen tissue to grow, you need to realize that your protein consumption, both quality and amount are important Each persons body is different so your intake may need to be more than what is recommended.

Dark green vegetables such as kale, spinach, collard greens, and asparagus are preferred in this category. Red fruits and vegetables which include darker berries, red beets, red peppers, or stewed tomatoes.
It has been found that omega acids also stimulate collagen growth. Foods that include salmon, tuna, and avocado. Nuts such as cashews, pecans, and Brazil nuts are excellent for omega fatty acids as a snack.
Foods rich in vitamin A give a surge to collagen growth and they include carrots, cantaloupe, mango, and sweet potatoes.
In summary, as you can see a well-balanced diet should do the trick.
