This lens is devoted to collectible Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) coins.

The Royal Canadian Mint is the leader in hologram coins, produces beautiful silver and gold coins, expertly colorized coins intended for numismatists, and even has gilded coins minted occasionally.

The subjects of the Royal Canadian Mint's coins are attractive to many collectors in the United States, as well as those in Canada.

For numismatic quality one has a difficult time matching the Royal Canadian Mint.

Here you will find several articles that cover the various aspects of the Royal Canadian Mint mentioned, and links to coins that are available for purchase.

RCM is a world class mint for when quality matters. RCM makes spectacular, collectible coins.

The Swavorski crystal coins of the Royal Canadian Mint

The Royal Canadian Mint makes two beautiful snowflake coins annually. One is in purple while the other is in blue. Occasionally, they are listed as amethyst and sapphire incrusted coins on E-Bay, but the crystals are really Swavorski crystals. These usually sell out immediately at the mint, so ordering requires one be ready to act as soon as the coins are released. Of course they quickly become available in the secondary market, usually with a hefty markup.

In 2008, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced the clear Swavorski crystal in its raindrop Maple Leaf. This incorporated color, and the drop hung from a green leaf. In 2009, the leaf was replaced with a cluster of red leaves, with the drop hanging from one of them.

In 2010, the Royal Canadian Mint produced the Water Lily, a white and yellow flower with green leaves. Three Swavorski crystals appear as dew on one of the leaves.

Whatever the future Royal Canadian Swavorski crystal coins are, it is unlikely they will not immediately sell out. Watch for releases and act quickly, or pay the secondary market's prices for these wonderful coins.

The Wolf Has Gotten Larger and Returned!

In 2006, the Royal Canadian Mint had a very successful coin, the one dollar silver wolf. This coin was one-half ounce of fine silver, and extremely popular.

The Royal Canadian Mint is now releasing a one Troy ounce fine silver version of the WOLF. The image is remarkedly similar to the 2006 coin, but this time it is on a one ounce coin. These coins have already found their way to E-bay. Will they appreciate in value like the 2006 coin has? Will the numismatic collectors seek them out with the same enthusiasm? Perhaps. In a couple of years we can all answer these questions much better.

Bird Twenty Five Cent Coins

The Royal Canadian Mint has stunning bird twenty-five cent coins. These coins are beautifully colorized, and made larger than most Canadian twenty-five cent coins.

There are two coins dated 2010, the Blue Jay and the Goldfinch. The Goldfinch is already sold out at the mint.

These coins are nickel plated steel coins minted in very low quantities, and are pictured by the mint in nice display cases.

These coins should delight both numismatists and bird watchers.

The Royal Canadian Mint Collectible Coins

When viewing the Royal Canadian Mint's site, the first thing that must be done is to select between English and French.

The Royal Canadian Mint has been impressing collectors for a long time. Currently, it is a leader in quality and variety in its coinage.

Here, we are interested in the collectible coins, but the circulating coins are also widely collected by numismatists.

The Royal Canadian Mint has been making holographic coins with quality holograms for years, well before the technology for producing such coins was in more general usage.

The Royal Canadian Mint has been a leader in privy marks for its coins, particularly its Maple Leaf.

The Royal Canadian Mint currently strikes 0.9999 fine silver Maple Leaf coins in silver, a purer form of silver than most other mints can manage. The standard purity for a fine silver coin is 0.999. While the extra silver is insignificant, and probably should alter the value little if any, it impresses the public. And, what people are willing to pay is the real value of any coin.

Currently, the Royal Canadian Mint has what can be argued as the most impressive coins incorporating Swavorski crystals.

Before it made fine silver coins, the Royal Canadian Mint produced silver dollars with a lower silver content, and several impressive Sterling silver series with a purity of 0.925.

The Canadian Silver Dollar

The Canadian silver dollar is quite easily collected because the silver content is too little to attract many bullion buyers. So, it has a price more based on numismatic value than bullion price. This is a good series to consider for a collection.

The Natural Wonders Series

The Natural Wonders series of silver coins has produced some really fantastic designs. The Hopewell Rocks depicts a golden image of a spectacular rock formation, and the Rockies silver colorized coin is fantastic.

The Royal Canadian Mint used some of the most fantastic scenery from nature, quality design, and the beauty of silver to produce a very collectible series of coins.

Each of the coins should be in a display case and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

These are low mintage, highly collectible coins.

Canadian Hologram Coins

Canadian Hologram Coins

Compared to other mints, the Royal Canadian Mint has been producing hologram coins for a long time. There are holographic maple leaf coins, the holographic loons, the transportation series, the tall ships series, the Natural Wonders Collection, a series on architecture, and now the new Olympic series. Indeed, there are other coins not listed here.

The Natural Wonders Collection perhaps is the best. Look for Iceberg, Niagara Falls, the Rockies, Northern Lights, and Diamonds. The architectural Notre Dame Basilica and Saddle Dome holograms are highly recommended.

Canada even has produced hologram on smaller denomination coins.

These should be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and in a display case.

The Maple Leaf

The Canadian Maple Leaf is one of the best known, beautiful bullion coins. It is readily available in both silver and in gold.

The silver Maple Leaf comes in the one Troy ounce size. Its value can be enhanced through colorization, especially if there is a special design of the maple leaf on the coin.

Occasionally, the Royal Canadian Mint adds a privy mark to celebrate an event. The titanic, D-Day, the entire Chinese Lunar set of symbols, and fireworks have all been used.

The anniversary silver coin with a gold maple leaf was an especially special issue.

Of course, holographic maple leaf coins and Swavorski crystal raindrop coins are highly prized.

Silver Maple Leaf coins of smaller sizes exists in 5-piece sets of holographic coins.

Gold Maple Leaf coins are especially attractive, and have been issued in fractional denominations as well as the one Troy ounce size.

Bullion coins may need to be purchased in the secondary market. They are not found on the mint's site.
