Collecting Depression Glass

While my vintage depression glass collection is small, it is growing and so is my knowledge about collecting depression glass.

Growing up I remember noticing the pretty multi-colored glass on display in the windows and dining room hutches of my great-grandmothers but never took an active interest until now.

I have collected plates, cups, creamers and sugar bowls in such patterns as; Bubble, Royal Lace, Cubist, Mayfair and Aurora and in such colors as; blue, pink, amber, ruby red and clear.

Depression Glass Collection

a few new (new for me) pieces

Hen on Nest

Carnival Glass

One of the most interesting pieces I've collected is the "Hen on Nest". These charming little dishes come in many sizes and colors. I have collected an amber one and an iridescent one otherwise known as "Carnival Glass".

The popular Hen on Nest glasswares come in various sizes...larger ones were often used as a candy dish while the small ones were used to hold salt.

I can see this collection growing. ;o)

Fenton Glass Top Hats

When I was in my teens my mother and I while at a garage sale noticed a milk glass top hat in Fenton's popular "daisy and button" pattern...she suggested I may want to purchase my 1st antique and so the collection began.

I have 2 glass top hats in my collection, one milk glass and the other a lovely deep dark green (given to me by my aunt).

Thank you for sharing your collection of vintage depression glass, it is a favorite of mine, probably because I grew up seeing and using it whenever we went to visit older folks in our community. I remember gazing into glass cabinets like it was candy...it still appeals to our little girl hearts! Blessed...and may your collection grow with many great deals as you find treasures of the past.
