Collective Soul

The name may sound familiar to you if you are a fan of Ayn Rand's book "The Fountainhead". "Collective Soul" was borrowed from a line in the book.

The band was formed in the early 1990's and with the platinum debut album "Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid" in 1994 (first released in 1993 on a different label), and a tour with Aerosmith, they had secured a spot at Woodstock '94! Now, that is quick! The hits kept coming with 7 #1 singles "Shine," "December," "The World I Know," "Where The River Flows," "Precious Declaration," "Listen," and "Heavy".

Collective Soul will be touring with Gavin Degraw this summer (2009) and they may coming to your town!

Are you a "Twilight" fan? Ed Roland, lead vocals/keyboards/guitars/songwriter, is credited as Producer on the movie soundtrack which features the song "Tremble for My Beloved" from the Collective Soul "Dosage" cd.

Do you follow celebs on Twitter? I didn't because they never follow you back. Many of them only want you to hear what THEY have to say and couldn't care less what YOU have to say or think. You would think that as much money of yours that goes into their pockets for movies, cds, posters, magazines, etc...that they might like to thank you for that, right? Not so much! I was watching a few nights ago as a certain celeb was reaching 1,000,000 followers. That is pretty great huh? Guess how many people this person was following...125. Would that make you feel important to this person? No.

I went to the Twitter link of this person and there were no responses to anyone, just broadcasting of themselves and their importance. Think about that before you follow someone. Many other people obviously felt the same way I did, as the backlash was fast and furious to #unfollow*****.

The point I'm getting to is just this, Collective Soul is on Twitter AND they follow their fans back. I know, I'm one of them. It's not even so much that they just follow you back, they INTERACT WITH YOU! Now, granted it may not be immediate, they are in studio currently and getting ready for the tour this summer, but they do read and try to keep up. Can you imagine doing everything they are doing and spending half the night tweeting so your fans don't feel left out?

These guys are so cool that they even post current pics and videos. These are not commercial videos and pics, these are home videos and pics! Does your favorite celeb do that? Probably not, unless they have a commercial contract with a camera company ;)

I hope you will check out their page, join their blog and follow them on Twitter. Then you'll see how REAL CELEBRITIES act. They will show you the same respect you show them. Sometimes it just breaks into a hilarious "tweetfest". The "Self-Apppointed Stars" could sure learn a lot from these down-to-earth guys.
