College Acceptance GPA - Low Standard Schools are Just That
When looking at schools, you need to think about the college acceptance GPA. If you've read my other lenses, you know that I struggled in college with my GPA. I struggled getting in, and I struggled for a successful GPA. Unfortunately for me at the time, GPA was everything! It's the same way for you as well. I don't want to mislead you, so I'll go ahead and admit that there are low gpa college programs that will accept you with a low GPA, and will let you coast through with that same low GPA. You'll graduate, walk the stage, get a diploma & probably even a nice plaque or frame to mount on your wall. "Look mom, I got a degree!"
What you may not be considering is that the school with a 1.5 college acceptance GPA or that let you walk with 0.50 GPA, didn't pull much rank with your future employers. In fact, your decision in a college can haunt you for the rest of your life. It's going to be stuck on your resume until you retire. College is the best time of your life, no one will deny that, but it doesn't mean that it's all fun and games. Employers know that students that attend schools with high standards and maintain a good GPA are people who they want working for them, plain and simple.

Finding the right college can be tricky, and everyone has different goals. Start by assessing your own: do you want to attend a presigious school that will lead to high paying jobs, do you want to go to the local community college to stay close to home, is the state university your first choice? This is a question that only you can answer, and the time is now!

Plan to Study
You're not passing if you don't
You're going to spend some of your time in class, some of your time studying, and some of your time at work (at least, for most of us, that's the way it goes). Your first goal is a good gpa. Without it, you're wasting your time in college. Make sure you focus on your gpa and don't let it get away from you.Study time should be structured time, no distractions. The quality of your study time is the most important thing to you achieving a good gpa. You can do less quality studying and achieve a higher gpa than if your studying is unorganized and broken, even if you study for 8 hours a day. This is important to remember. A lot of people will struggle with understanding how to structure their study time, which is common, but keeping it simple and following some basic guidelines, you can study effectively & maintain a high gpa with ease.
School Rankings
The school's quality matters, and so does yours!
So you've chosen to go to a state school, or even a community college. You met the requirements for the college acceptance GPA, you assessed your goals, values, wants and needs and decided that the school you've chosen is the right one for you. You may still be worried about how future employers are going to view your school if it's s third or fourth tier college.
The truth is: your college education is what you make of it. Employers want everyone to attend colleges that have strict requirement, high college acceptance GPA scores, etc. They also know that your education is only the foundation, and your GPA tells them more about you than just what was learned in college. You can attend any school, and get a good job. Don't be afraid to pick a local school because you don't think you'll find work when you get out. You will, it's something that you control. You will, however, have to make sure that your gpa is up to par. You gpa is a measure of what you learned and how well you learned it. It tells future employers if you care about your future, if you're a hard worker, diligent, capable, motivated and determined. If you're going to choose a school that doesn't rank high in the nation for your major, then you really need to focus in on your studies and make sure you have a gpa that catches people's attention. A 2.0 from a fourth tier school won't impress anyone, but it's never to late to raise low gpa numbers.
