The Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa card is designed to provide a rewards program that college students car participate in. Users of this card earn 5 points per dollar spent on purchases at select restaurants, bookstores, recored stores, movie theaters and video retal stores as well as 1 point for every dollar spent on all other purchases. Students can also earn 25 points for making their payments on-time and up to 2000 points per semester for maintaining a high GPA. Rewards points can be used towards discounts on gift cards, CDs, VIP mtvU Spring Break Passes, tickets to the MTV Video Music Awards, airline tickets and discounts on purchases at all MTV Stores. The Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa card for College Students offers an interest-free introductory rate and no annual fees but the rate is slightly above average after the introductory rate expires.

The Citi Platinum Select Card offers student related discounts on select products and services while offering benefits such as travel and emergency assistance services. This credit card has a 0% introductory rate on purchases, cash advances and balance transfers for the first 6 months along with not charging an annual fee for the service. The Citi Platinum Select Card for College Students is not ideal for users who plan to carry a monthly balance because of the above average interest rate after the first 6 months.
