COOL COLLEGE THEME PARTY IDEAS

Contrary to popular belief college theme party ideas are popular with students to provide entertainment their fraternity and sorority parties. These kids like to have activities other than loud music at a level that's guaranteed to entice the neighbors to call the police or kegs full of beer that will leave you cursing the day you were born when you wake up the next day.

Some might argue that college party pics are evidence to the contrary. What about all the wild parties we see in movies? No matter how extreme unsupervised college parties can be there are other functions on campus that are required to be more respectable and that's what this collection of college party planning ideas is about.

There are classic college theme party ideas that give a nod to Greek life and a few ideas that will appeal primarily to the coed and be suitable for a mixer or afternoon get together where a healthy mix of fun and dignity may be required.

Most kids don't need tips on how to organize a drunken frat party or a gathering of girls gone wild; but when it comes to good, clean and only slightly naughty fun they run aground.

We would never suggest that students under legal drinking age drink liquor or alcohol of any kind. And if you are above legal drinking age, please drink responsibly and always have a designated driver. Many of these trendy college party themes involve drinking games, but you always have the option to substitute something other than alcoholic beverages and believe me when I tell you that you will be grateful the next morning if you do just that.

The Halloween costume party was a blast so why not adapt a few of its concepts to create some college Christmas theme party ideas! There are so many excellent costume possibilities here that it would be a shame to miss out on this chance to masquerade as one of Santa's elves, a candy cane, the ghost of Christmas past, present and/or future or even the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus.

College students less inclined to wear a full costume can visit the $1 or less store to pick up some felt antlers and a red ball to wear on their noses.

Those who have an excess of Christmas spirit (or spirits as in alcoholic beverages) under their belts can spread the cheer by wearing the official red suit, black boots and a beard and don't forget the sack. The Romeo of the fraternity might consider inviting 8 sorority girls to act as reindeer and pull his make-believe sleigh to the party or dress up as sexy elves out for a night on the town with the boss.

No matter what your fraternity brothers tell you; you WILL need more than a keg!

SCHOOL DAYS PHOTO PARTY IDEAS

Decorating with pictures from the classroom, the dorm room and the quad

A graduation party is a celebration to commemorate good times experienced in college or high school as well as the bright future ahead of the graduating students. It's the perfect time to make memories with friends and family. To decorate for your party, there are many graduation themed party decorations and supplies that you can buy in your chosen colors for an inexpensive price.

Have one of the party supply stores create a custom photo display out of a favorite picture taken during your guest of honor's glory days. Allowing plenty of time for manufacturing and shipping, send in a photo and they can make a cardboard standee in whatever size you need. And whatever you do, don't throw your cutout away after the party. You will want to store it for use at high school and college reunions.

Another inexpensive graduation party idea is to make your own hanging photo display. Ask classmates to contribute copies of 5 X 7 photographs and secure them to a string of patio lights or a cotton clothesline that you hang alongside the entry path to your party or in some other well travelled location at the event. This is lots of fun and you may want to have more than one copy of each photo to replace the ones that are inevitably removed by embarrassed guests.

Another idea is to have a college days picture contest. Have your guests compete for prizes in this contest where entries can range from THE FUNNIEST, THE MOST FASHIONABLE or JUST PLAIN WEIRD categories.

AROUND THE WORLD COLLEGE PARTY IDEAS

Experience the cultural differences of the countries of our world.

Decorate each room of the fraternity house according to the style of various countries from around the world. If space allows, arrange buffet tables in each of the individual rooms covered with dishes, desserts and beverages (it's up to you whether the drinks are alcoholic or non-alcoholic, but the parties that I attended used alcohol) associated with each individual country.

Here are some ideas for each "country":

In the Mexican themed room, you would be served enchiladas, tacos and other common Mexican foods. The drinks might include tequila, margaritas or other tequila based cocktails.

In the Hawaiian theme area, pineapples or a baked pig with an apple in its mouth would make a super centerpiece with fruity umbrella drinks like you find in the tropical island to drink.

Potato dishes and Guiness would take care of Ireland.

Salad with Russian dressing and vodka would cover the Ukrainian part of the world.

Your sophisticated college theme party might have the same results as a common keg party if you are not careful, but it should be lots of fun.

TIE COLLEGE PARTY THEME or THE PHASES of LIFE THEME PARTY

Cover the dating scene through marriage and divorce in one night!

A suitable marriage is on the mind of most sorority girls, so it shouldn't be a surprise that there are college theme party ideas based on courting and marriage. Here is the best one I've seen, but you have to be of age to play!

Before the party, make a trip to the frat house of your choice and have each of the fraternity brothers put one of his ties in a box .

As the sorority sisters arrive, have each one reach in the box (you might want to put a lid on the box or blindfold the girls to prevent cheating) and pick a tie. The girl's date or partner for the duration of the party games to come would be the owner of the tie that she chose.

PHASE 1
The first phase of the party is the "dating phase" which begins in the first room where you are drinking low budget beer.

PHASE II

Moving right along to the next room you will leave the "dating phase" and enter the "engagement phase" where you will be served cocktails or margaritas.

PHASE III

In the next area you will take part in the "marriage phase" where you will be served champagne in crystal champagne flutes.

PHASE IV

Following the "marriage phase" comes the "honeymoon phase" in a room where (if you are still standing) you will drink a popular cocktail called "Sex on the Beach".

PHASE V

After marriage comes the kids room where you are asked to roll the dice to ascertain ate how many baby girls and boys each couple has.
For each girl the couple would do one red Jell-O shot. For each baby boy born to the lucky couple, one blue Jello shot is taken. A twist on this phase is to ask the couples to participate in a unique college theme party ideas plus baby shower theme party ideas and decorations segment and play baby shower games.

PHASE VI

This college theme party follows along with modern courtship and marriage trends in that the next room the couple will enter is the divorce room where they are comforted with a Jack Daniels or a shot of Jim Beam

You can add as many phases as you want from remarriage to step-parenting or a mid-life crisis room or you can allow the strong of heart to swap partners and go through all the phases again to see if they have better luck.

FROM HEAVEN to HELL THEMED COLLEGE PARTY THEMES

A crazy college party celebrating all the reasons to be good little students.

This wild party will show you what happens if you don't behave yourself.

DECORATIONS

Decorate half the frat or sorority house as Heaven with fluffy white clouds with angelic music playing in the background. The other half of the house should be decorated as a red, burning inferno with flashing laser lights and creepy sound effects that sound something like tormented souls in Hades.

COSTUMES

Have the sisters wear their Heavenly white robes ( the same ones they wore to the last toga party?), their best gold halo and make their wings are fluffy enough to pass muster. The guys get to strut around in their red tights with a pitchfork with horns on their heads. Or if you want to mix it up a bit and go against tradition; the girls can dress in a devilish fashion while the boys make like Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

BEVERAGES

The evil group at the party gets cheap beer because they don't deserve any better. The angels get the cocktail of their choice or at the very least imported beer.

COLLEGE COLORS PARTY THEME

Support your team by partying in your school colors

Let your guests know in the invitation that whatever they wear has to be in your school colors. Cheerleaders and football players will have it covered in spades as they can wear their uniforms and even bring their pom poms.

Hand out ballots so that your friends can anonymously vote for their favorites as king or queen of the college colors party. Once the votes have been counted, have them stroll hand in hand down a designated path to receive their crowns and sceptors (and royal robes if you have any in your color scheme) in a ceremony that can be as wild and laughable as you want to make it. You should have a speech prepared ahead of time.

Once the royalty of the festivities has been crowned, crank up the music and dance the night away. If dancing is not an option, have an informal "color fashion show" and let the frat boys and girls demonstrate their school pride and their stylish outfits.

VIDEO or MOVIE STAR PARTY

Decorate the party venue like a movie set with lighting, cameras and director's chairs. Create an area as the focus of the attention of the group that will be filming the movies with a table, chair, telephone or any other props that you think you will need.

Have your party guests draw names to create teams. Each team will be responsible for appointing a director and film crew as well as their pick for their featured celebrity.

Have each group conduct a screen test while the rest of the guests socialize. At the end of the evening have a screening with voting for who is the most likely to make it in Hollywood.
