College Students Get Special Rates On Airplane Tickets

Being a college student costs alot of money, I know I am one. We definitely like to save some money anywhere we can. With the prices the way they are these days it's almost not worth it to go on any trips; Whether it be visiting with family and friends, or just going on a fun trip for spring break. I have been having to tell everyone that I couldn't go because It would cost me too much money, which really sucks. I was missing out on alot of great times until I found out that I could get a discount rate for being a college student. Oh yeah! money in the bank.

Look how much the airlines were going to charge me.

before I got my discounts

Before I found out about my discount rates I was looking to fly back home for the coming spring break, which is in March. I got online and researched through some of the most popular travel sites, you know what they are. When I got my quotes back, I must admit, I started laughing. Laughing was the only thing I could think of doing since the prices were just down right rediculous.

I am flying from tallahassee, FL to Ft. Myers, FL; which for those of you that don't know, is only about 400 miles away. All of the airines were trying to charge me around $1,000. That's right one thousand dollars. If I were to drive it would take me 6 hours each way and cost about $120 total in gas. I couldn't believe how astronomical it would be for me to fly. I even put in the flexible flyer option and was trying to book my flight about a month in advance.

Driving is the second choice amongst travelers

especially when you are on a limited time schedule

I must admit, the drive back home is not really that bad. Like I metioned before, it's only about 6 to 6 1/2 hours to drive there; but those hours add up quick.

If I am trying to leave for the weekend I would end up driving all firday night. Then I could spend Saturday and only a small portion of Sunday with my family. I would rather pay the little extra in order to be able to spend friday night and all of sunday with my friends and family, but I am not about to spend a grand for the convenience.

How many times have you driven somewhere for the weekend, maybe even a long weekend, and after all is said and done you feel as though you missed out on alot of time from your trip because you were stuck behind the wheel. Not to mention how tiring it is to drive for hundreds and hundreds of tedious miles.

I think most people would agree that flying is a much more convenient way to travel. Not only do you get to where you are going much quicker, but you also get to enjoy some drinks and snacks, go to the bathroom without having to stop and add more time to your estimated arrival, read a book, watch a movie, or maybe even meet some new people. All of which you could not do if you had to submit to the torture of driving to your destination.

So how exactly could one find student discount rates on airfare.

I will show you it is very simple

Of course it is a website, but it is not just any website. It really is exclusively for college students. The prices are unrivaled and they can prove it to you. Right next to your quotes there will be links to compare what best rates you could get from expedia and travleocity. When I did my comparison there was a difference of about $500 between the more popular sites that most people use. It was a no brainer; of course I was going to go for the ticket that was more than 60% less than most competitor sites, and I am glad I did. So, what is the site you may ask well It is called StudentUniverse.com and I highly recommend you give it a shot. I really think you will be happy with the rates you are given.

and remember you have to be a college student or you will not be eligible for these special rates.
