Colonial Costumes Are Perfect For Plays and Re-Enactments

18th century

Colonial Costumes help you celebrate and authentically recreate the founding of our country.

These historical costumes are excellent for war re-enactments, school plays, parades and as Halloween costumes.

Take a trip back in time to the birth of our nation. The Declaration of Independence announced to the world on July 4, 1776, that thirteen British colonies in North America were leaving Great Britain to form a separate nation to be called the United States of America.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross and Benjamin Franklin all were of this time period.

Wigs are what really set these costumes apart. You need the white "powdered" wig to really capture the era. For example, George Washington is a very recognizable figure. Wear a white powdered wig, ruffled shirt front and high boots to dress as the Father of Our Country. Add the sideways hat and you'll look very presidential.

The tricorn hat is another recognizable accessory for men, as is the mop hat for women. Add buckles to black shoes, a ruffled jabot, and don't be afraid to wear lots of lace at the sleeves and neck.

As you can see, colonial costumes are unique and they are fun to wear!
