Color and Feng Shui

Apart from being sources of visual pleasure, colors are also strongly related to the human emotions. Different colors evoke different sentiments in us. The shiny orange of the morning sky certainly lights up one's day and heart. In Feng Shui, colors are representatives of different energies, and they flow into the people who look at them. A bright red rose ignites passion while a subtle white rose evokes serenity. The world of colors, and its impact on our emotional being, is truly magical

Color Energy in Feng Shui

Feng Shui applies the natural energetic power of colors to our benefit. An object acquires a color by reflecting that color. Sky is blue as it reflects blue color. Feng Shui defines the qualities of these reflected energies and scribes a set of simple guidelines to harness their power and to bring harmony in and around you.
According to Feng Shui practice, the universe is full of two complementary energies: Yin and Yang. Feng Shui specifies a set of colors as colors of Yin energy and another set as Yang energy colors. Places need either Yin or Yang colors depending on their nature.

Yin colors are considered to be dreamy and passive. Feng Shui advises you to keep your work place or office away from these Yin colors like green, blue, purple and white. To such places more vibrant colors that symbolize action are more suitable (for example a bright orange).

Use of Color in Feng Shui

Feng Shui helps us by prescribing an effective color pattern for our home, office, garden and attire. By adhering to Feng Shui colors you can easily achieve the set goal and be in a space of colors that suits your personality and attitude.

To put it in a different tone, the colors aim at bringing a certain degree of consistency and synchronization between what you want to do and the respective colors for that.

Blue, green, purple, white, black and pink are grouped as Yin colors in Feng Shui. Each color has its own quality and impact on its surrounding and the on-looker's heart and mind. Yin colors tranquilize the troubled mind, unwind stress and help to relax. All Yin colors have a soothing effect on the eyes and overall being.

Feng Shui considers blue, which is also the color of the sky, a color of freedom, adventure and exploration. Strong shades of blue like navy blue represent powerful knowledge. Black is for good careers and wealth.

Feng Shui associates the color purple with spiritual awareness, while white touches the soul and it represents purity and serenity.

Yang Colors

Yang colors are the colors of action and performance. These colors give you enthusiasm and they strongly motivate you.

Red, brown, orange and yellow are the main Yang colors. Yellow, the color of sunrays, represents warmth and friendliness. But over use of yellow has an adverse effect of increasing one's anxiety.

Orange is a significant Yang color which is associated with concentration, creativity and organization. Use the color in a child's study or in meditation rooms.

Proper combinations of Feng Shui colors do wonders to your life by bringing in luck, romance and prosperity into one's life. Feng Shui gives an insight in to the relation between you and your environment, and presents a way to command colors to do the magic for you. After all, it is all about getting that perfect shade.
