We think Columbus is a great place to live and work.   Donna and I are tech savvy Realtors who have the most Advanced Search and Columbus Ga Map system in the Columbus GA MLS to find homes for sale.   We want to introduce you to our city and show you some of the top reasons to live and work in Columbus GA!!  Lately we have taken the mapping thing a step further.  We know that when you move to a new area it is hard to find the places you want to go and it helps you to select a home if you know where the amenities in an area are located.  With this in mind we have begun to create interactive Google maps that you can drag and zoom into with important locations like Columbus ga restaurants, churches, schools, and other places of interest.     This is a start.  Once we have these maps fully populated we will add more maps with centers of entertainment, parks, and other points of interest.  Keep checking back!

Homes in Columbus GA

Columbus is a growing area with Fort Benning being one of the benefactors of the Base Realignment. We also have industry growth with AFLAC adding 2000 jobs in the area and the KIA Plant and affiliate industries locating in our area. Much of the revitalization downtown is due to the expansion of our local college - Columbus State University. CSU is now up to about 7500 students and growing.

Columbus Ga Investors

Because of the positive business news and the Fort Benning Expansion. caused by the BRAC military realignment - Columbus Ga has become a hot place for investors. Fort Mitchell AL Homes for Sale are hot in this area. It remains to be seen if these will turn out to be good investments or not. There are varying opinions on this but there is no doubt that right now this is a growing area!! Another area we think is hot for investment is the hard hit Beach Homes in Jacksonville FL .

Downtown Columbus GA

The downtown area of Columbus is very relaxing to me. There is a lot of Entertainment in Columbus Ga We have preserved a lot of the history by restoring the old brick building that are storefronts and mills down close to the river and our Columbus GA Historic District
with the Victorian homes and brick streets. Most of this is just a block or two from the 15 miles of Riverwalk along the Chattahoochee. where there will soon be a whitewater kayaking course

Investment Opportunities

Real Estate is arguably still the best investment available. Even though this year has not been the best for Real Estate - it is only one of 2 years in the last 50 years when prices have actually gone down. Typically Real Estate continues to increase in value at about a 5% rate. This sounds pretty dull until you realize that you only have to put down a small percentage of the price to be able to invest so that you may be able to make a $100,000 investment with only $5000. Fort Benning is our largest employer

Fort Benning is the largest employer in the Columbus GA - Phenix City area and is growing with the addition of the Armor School. Base Commander Maj. Gen Walt Wojdakowski gave an update on the progress of BRAC as it relates to Fort Benning . Columbus will also benefit from the new Infantry Museum as it is an $86 million dollar project and will attract a huge amount of visitors to our area. Go to our Fort Benning site and read about all the expansion in at Fort Benning and around the area. Fort Benning is just on the south side of Columbus Ga and just across the river from Phenix City.

Callaway Gardens!

Callaway Gardens is one of the 10 best things about living in Columbus GA. With events year round like the Fantasy in Lights at Christmas, Masters Ski Tournament in the Spring, 4th of July with the Swinging Medallions on the Robin Lake Beach, and the Balloon Festival in the Fall - Callaway is a destination of choice for Columbus residents. We buy a year round pass for the family that only cost $100 and gives us year round access to Callaway. The Gardens are spectacular in the spring and the Sibley Horticulture exhibit is something to see along with the Butterfly exhibit. Whether you just want to grill out at the lake, go skiing, hiking, bicycling, or attend an event - Callaway is awesome.
