Allo Allo / Comedy Allo Allo
Its been 15 years since the Great British comedy "Allo Allo" finished with the liberation of the town. Rene survived the war and runs off with Yvette and the picture of the "Fallen Madonna with the big Boobbies". The timeless comedy is still as good today as it was in the 1980's when it first graced our Televisions.
In all 85 episodes of this classic comedy were made, it was a spoof of the Drama series "The Secret Army" which was about the french resistance helping airmen to escape capture and getting them back to England, with the help of a cafe owner.
This sound familier as Rene "Hero of the Resistance" is a cafe owner, the only trouble is they cannot seem to get rid of two of the British airmen. This is a Classic British Comedy you should all see and is very funny
Allo Allo main characters
Rene Artois - cafe owner and hero of the resistance, catchphrase "You stupid woman"Michelle Dubois - leader of the french resistance, catchphrase "listern very carefully i will say this only once"
Officer Crabtree - british agent posing as french policemant, catchphrase "good moaning"
The two british airmen Carstairs and fairfax who seem incabable of escaping catchphrase "Hello"
Then you have the germans:
Herr otto flick of the gestapo, who has the limp and waling stick.
hans gruber who has a little tank and is a very gay german, hes in love with rene.
there are lots of other charachters that are all very funny and have their own traits, just watch the series and you see all the great personalities and farces this great series brings.
The show had a cunning method of dealing with language problems. French characters spoke their native tongue with pantomime-style exaggerated French accents, but when they spoke English they adopted equally exaggerated posh Oxford accents. The English characters spoke English normally, but when they spoke French it was with a poor, almost incomprehensible cod French accent. This was especially true of the Englishman named Crabtree, who survived in Nouvion disguised as a gendarme and whose strangulated English-French gave the show its most memorable catchphrase with his customary greeting 'Good Moaning'.
Throughout the cast, the characterisations were uniformly broad and the show was an equal-opportunity offender when it came to stereotypes: it depicted the French as greedy and sex-obsessed, the Germans as inefficient bumblers and the British as upper-class twits.

- Thanks for putting this up! I remember watching Allo Allo with my dad and gran on a Sunday. It's such a quality program and some of the things they managed to get away with saying and doing were unbelievable.
Cheers again, keep up the good, erm... squidooism? (Is that the right word? lol)
