What These Comics Have in Common
The characteristics of QC and comics that share them
I'm not a big fan of webcomics in general, but Questionable Content is one that I love. It's not the typical webcomic, but there are certain things about it that I like that aren't true about most webcomics I find. For one thing, it is neither an online graphic novel nor a newspaper strip-style comic. It has its own format, designed specifically for publishing on the web in full color, and it was published in book form as an afterthought. Another thing I like about it is that it doesn't cling to comic stereotypes. There's no real plot line, it's just an ongoing series of events, but it's not just a series of jokes either, although each update delivers a dose of humor - there is progression and development, just like in real life. The characters aren't defined by specific outfits - they wear different things every day. Yet it has one unusual quirk that seems to blend into its universe so seamlessly, one forgets that it's an abnormality - the existence of personified robots, referred to in the comic as antroPC's.

Descriptions of the comics that I keep up with regularly
Leftover Soup - This comic is like Questionable Content in a lot of ways, especially at the beginning. It's about a guy who moves in with a girl with no intentions of getting romantically involved, and just the everyday life surrounding a group of friends. I like Leftover Soup because it's filled with intelligent, unusual humor.
Selkie - This comic is about an alien girl who gets adopted by a single guy. I like it because it's set in normal life and has a normal, everyday-feel to it, with occasional awkwardness about the fact that the girl isn't human.
Hot Mess - This comic is about a normal girl starting high school and all the awkwardness about being in high school and fitting in and stuff. She has a group of imaginary animal friends that follow her around everywhere and represent different aspects of her personality, making comments every so often that only she can hear.
Think Before You Think - This comic is centered around a guy who can read minds, and the awkward ways that it effects the people around him. It's set in a normal college environment, and focuses on the interactions of his group of friends.
