Nicely informative lens ... though the data seems a bit out-of-date. Thanks for documenting the dangers of this industry. ~~Blessed~~

Just recently, one of my sons "landed" a job on a commercial fishing vessel in Alaska. Ever since we started paying a bit more attention to the fishing industry there, we gained a new appreciation for all of the hard work the crews endure, to bring our favorite seafoods to the table.

    Excellent Lens! Kudos to author!

Very interesting subject. And controversial too. I heard a lot about ecological aspects of commercial fishing. Maybe a lens about pros and cons? Just an idea... Great info. Thumbs up!

Appreciating your knowledge and photos on this lens. Glad to see you have Virginia Sea Food on your list as seafood is important for this state as well as North Carolina next door. I cast a vote of "Like' for this valuable lens. I love this topic and have a few lens relating to this topic and importance of coastal conservation. Thanks .

I enjoy searching for new stuff on Squidoo - today's search was for "boats," and the variety has been stunning. There are a lot of commercial boats here on Vancouver Island (for obvious reasons). Thanks for your contribution!

I wish I lived somewhere close to the coast so that I could be a commercial fisherman. I know it is dangerous, but the money is well worth it.

I've been deep sea fishing and salmon fishing on a bay -- but had no idea of the bigger picture -- thanks!

Nice lens. I've been commercial fishing for many years in Prince William Sound, Alaska. I seine for salmon during the summer and also do a little bit of longlining for halibut and black cod in the spring. It's definitely not for everyone but I love it!

I just read a real life story of a trawler man out at sea in cyclone Tracy Darwin 1974. It sent shivers down my spine and made me appreciate fishermen more.
The book is called (The Night I went out with Tracy and she blew my brains out )
By Bobby Magic. See details here

I love the commercial fishing life! I fish out of Valdez, Alaska in beautiful Prince William Sound. I longline halibut in the spring. Now we are getting ready for the salmon seining season. We should be fishing in about a week.
