Are you sure you really need a lawyer?
When you need a lawyer--you need a laywer, and there is really no subsitite for a good one.
Sometimes, what you need is a standard contract, or an understanding of what the law requires. In that case, you may still need a lawyer, but it's possible that all you really need is NOLO.
I discovered the NOLO law series when I was looking for step-by-step advice on starting a non-profit organization. The book was exactly what I needed--clear, straight forward, and full of easy expalinations of what I was able to do my self and where the law get's tricky.
Now when ever I need a contract, or have a legal question, I look first to NOLO.
