Finding a job?

Finding a job to work from home can be very difficult. Trying to sift through all those scams only to find more scam can be frustrating. But don't give up! There are legit companies out there that will hire you to work for them at home. Some of these companies are probably very familiar to most all of us, like: Sprint, Alltel, Nextel, Verizon. All of these companies hire people to work from home in lots of areas, one being customer service reps.

I am one of those people who have been looking for a legit work at home position for over a year. I kept running into scam after scam. Some I actually bought into.. BIG mistake! My advice, Don't buy into anything that promises riches! These are not real companies and they won't last long. Pretty soon they will become saturated and there will be no room left for anyone to make any kind of money.

After running into all of these scam I decided it was time I refine my search for a work at home job. I realized I was looking in all the wrong place. I also found that there are tons of real companies, hiring for real positions for you to work from home. I have found websites that offer only legit companies only. But there's a catch with most of these sites. You have to pay a fee of anywhere around $6 - over $30 or $40 to get access to these companies. However, you don't have to buy into these sites to get to the jobs. There are plenty of free sites that have the same information on them or even more. I know because I did buy access to some of these sites, some were scams and some had the real stuff, but they had the same info on them as the free sites I use as well.

Here I'm going to point you in the right direction for finding companies that hire people to work at home (the free sites). Some for customer service reps, accounting and billing, computer programming, consultants, date entry, editing/proofreading, education, graphic design and so much more. It isn't impossible to work at home. Just remember it will be a little harder to get a work at home position than it would be out in the real world. Because these companies are trusting people to do work unsupervised. You will have to try a little harder!

I really hope this helps some of you.. please let me know if I have helped you or if there is something you thing I could improve here by telling me in my guestbook. Also please if you like this lens, don't for get to rate me 5 stars! ;)
Good Luck job hunting!!

Things You Might Need

There are a few things that I have noticed when I was looking for a work at home job. Most of the place require certain things before you can work for them. Of course, these are just what I had issues with. This doesn't mean that they are all like this or haven't changed. It's just something to think about.

1.You will most likely need an Internet Connection.
2.A possible newer computer. Mine was from 1995 and didn't have the correct technical requirements for alot of the jobs. Be sure to check before you apply.
3.In some cases you will need a phone, headset and/or voip. They usually do not allow cordless phones.
4.They usually ask that you have a unlimited long distance plan, if you are an IC. Sometimes as an employee, I'm not sure about reimbursement.

Real Work At Home Resources

I am going to give you a few links to some forums that I use and absolutely love for finding a job. There will also be a link to specific category jobs on the forum to make it easier for you to find what your looking for.

The first is 1. www.workplacelikehome.com This is the main page link. You can start here if you like and work your way through the site or stick around here a little and see more about this site and category specific links to threads.

Workplacelikehome.com forum is my favorite to use. It is very active with over 36,841 members talking about work at home jobs, helping people find jobs and weed out the scam. People there are willing to talk about experiences they have or had with companies and have lots of other info they may be able to share within legal boundaries. When I say that, it is do to the fact that some companies ask their employees or IC's (Independent Contractors) not to talk about certain area's of the company. Sometime people can't even say the name of the company they are working for. For the people who can't, they are still willing to help as much as they can, and they will let you know when they can or can't say something. Most can talk about it though, so please don't let this discourage you.

Also there are plenty of other topics you can find there as well. Help with family, shopping, taxes and lots more. You can find those forums on the main page link above.

On to the jobs!

First I will give you the links to the top forums. These are jobs that have their own forum because they are very active in hiring and they have more than 10 members hired. If you have interested in any of these forums or threads go ahead and look through them, find out more about the company i.e. pay, hours, employee or IC those kinds of things. If you don't find what your looking for, just sign up to be a member for free and start asking questions. Good luck!

What You Shouldn't Do When Looking for a WAH Job

1. Never Take a position if you have to pay for it. There are real jobs out there where they just "HIRE" you to work at home. One thing to remember about those jobs that offer very little work, great pay, blah, blah, blah and ask you for a fee. These are usually things that require alot of marketing. So unless your a marketing specialist, you won't make any money. These also require alot of time and in the end you did alot of work and didn't get paid for it.

2. Never exept a position if you have not done research on it. There are alot of ways you can do research on a company. One being, typing the name of the company into google and you should find anything that people have posted about it. You can also type the word "Scam" after the company name, that will help you find anything dealing with it being a scam. Like it someone posted it on rip-off report you should find it. Also another thing you can do is go to the forum listed above "workplacelikehome" and post it there asking if anyone has heard of it and if it is a scam. The people there will do some research on it or tell you if they have encountered it before.

3. Never except a position if they ask you to except packages or payments. Usually these will end up being stolen. This is one that I have experience with and I was very lucky with the outcome. WHATEVER YOU DO...DON"T DO IT!!

4. It's usually not a good idea to except a position that is offered to you by email. Unless you applied for it personally and said they could contact you via email. But if you have never seen the position before and did not apply for it, I don't recommend going for it. Unless you have done extensive research and you have absolutely no doubt that it is real. This kind of thing happens alot, especially when people have posted there resume's online for work at home positions.

5.It might be a good idea if you get a TIN (tax indentification number). That way you aren't giving your Social Security # away to every one. It can help protect you.
