Compare Credit Card Offers
It's easy to get excited when comparing all the great credit offers available here. However, it is my opinion, these offers should be limited to one per person.
The best practice is to use your credit card for purchases and pay off the balance each month to avoid interest charges. All the while, you are collecting points for name brand products.
Cash back credit cards, airline credit cards (for the frequent flier), student credit cards, instant approval cards and...the list goes on.
I use my American Express points to pay for almost all of my entire Christmas. My family loves the gifts I'm giving and it didn't cost me a dime. :)
If you have never used points, you need to start. Many companies give one point for every dollar spent. Add up enough points and you can trade those a pool table, MP3 player, calculator or whatever else you might need.
Why wouldn't you want to collect miles for free products of you are going to spend the money anyway?
Points add-up to free miles and discounts on related services like car-rentals, hotel stays, or cruises. With students cards, these points can be traded for discounts for gas or car purchases or at places where they usually shop or dine.
I also love the 0% balance transfers. These are useful when your current card has passed it's introductory rate. If you have held a card longer than 6 months and retain an outstanding balance each month, you should compare credit offers for a balance transfer.
Instant approval cards are for consumers who don't have the time to sit and wait for their application to be approved or denied. You can literally be approved within minutes with the right credit. Interest rates are usually a bit higher for immediate approval.
In summary, there are "specific" cards for the nearly all credit card users- it's just a matter of choosing the right card based on your needs and financial status.
