Momwithahook's First Annual Compassion International Fundraiser

I'm going on my 3rd year with Compassion International and supporting our two children, Sara and Ravi.

This year I'm starting an annual fundraising effort to raise the full year support for both children in the month of Compassion - February. I'm going to need your help though. Take a look at the hats below, order a hat, make a donation, and I'll make your custom crochet hat and mail it out to you.

Follow along as we raise awareness for Compassion International and funds for Sara and Ravi sponsorship.

Our Sponsor Child ~ Sara

from Burkina Faso

Sara was our first sponsored child. She was chosen because she was my namesake. I've grown to love Sara and her family. Her mama just had another child over the summer so their family is now 6 members strong. She attends school and the Compassion resource center daily. She loves drawing little flowers on the letters she sends me.

Sara lives in Burkina Faso which has a high incidence of Aids deaths. It is also poverty stricken with family income averaging just over $25/month.

Sara loves playing with her dolls and when I sent her a story about dolls she was most grateful.

I love receiving her letters and photos - she's growing up into a lovely young lady. She always ends her letters thanking us for our prayers as well as with a note of prayer for our family.

Ravi - Our Sponsor Child

from India

Ravi is our second Sponsored child through Compassion international. He was chosen from the 'long term unsponsored' list. When I found him it had been nearly 6 months since he received sponsorship.

He is the same age as my youngest son. He enjoy math and loves his family dearly.

When I sent him an extra gift for his birthday he spent it on a cake for his classmates - they enjoyed it with great happiness. He also spent some money to buy his mama 2 chairs for their home. The rest of the $25 was spent on clothes for school.

Ravi's family rents land from a wealthy family and they farm the land in exchange for living there. The harvest is sold in the local market and it is this source of income that they live off of.

I enjoy receiving Ravi's letters as he is detailed in his descriptions of the various celebrations his family celebrates. i.e. Dawalli
