Compassion, A Poem
Original Poem by Brite-Ideas

To the one who hurt us
do we hurt back
or do we show mercy
To the one who lied to us
do we lie back
or do we lead with honor
To the one who cheated us
do we cheat back
or do we forgive
To the one who hates us
do we hate back
or do we live only with love
To the one who stole from us
do we steal back
or do we give clemency
To the one who is jealous of us
do we bathe in it
or do we uplift them
To the one who makes a mistake
do we judge them
or do we remember our own mistakes
To the one who is weak
do we walk by
or do we help them
To the one who cannot love
do we pity them
or do we show compassion
To live in a wonderful world
do we remember
we must first master ourselves
Your Opinion is Wanted about Compassion and Goodness
Do You Believe that People are Generally Compassionate & Good?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes, I do believe that people are generally compassionate and good at the core
darciefrench says:
The general consciousness is now above the level of integrity as a whole. It used to be that pride ruled; now compassion has a foot hold. It's wonderful to see the expressions of this shift, like your work. Thank-you! :)

I just think it has gotten turned off by satan's altar (tv), financial difficulties, broken families, woundedness. If it could be turned back on, it would have amazing results.

Yes I'm an Optimist and I do believe that people are basically good

No, I don't believe that people are generally compassionate, and that most have to "try" to be "good" because it doesn't come naturally
jseven says:
I don't think human compassion leads to anything but self, where God's compassion in us like mother Theresa, leads to Christ and His cross, the intersection of life.

A Riddle- What Are They?
They Help to Humble Us, and perhaps can make us more Compassionate
Can you Figure this one out?
We can make them without trying
We own it without buying
We accumulate thousands in a lifetime
They don't cost a dime
Yours are Yours
And Mine are Mine
HINT: The Answer is in the Compassion Poem

Do It Anyway, a Book by Dr. Kent M. Keith
I recently learned that the quote on the front of his book, was written by him, but online you'll often see this quote mistakenly attributed to Mother Theresa. (Although she could have easily said this, as her fine example of living demonstrated to all of us).
I wanted to put up this book here because this verse/quote on the cover is truly a spectacular message, and a valuable way to live.

- I think compassion has to start first with ourselves and those we love, or have dealings with every day. Compassion is exercised directly, whereas charity is exercised long distance, with the occasional heart movement for those far away, like the bombing victims in Iraq or the starving folks in Haiti.
