Johann Sebastian Bach

Some of the most known works of Johann Sebastian Bach

To write a lens about Bach is an almost impossible undertaking. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was one of the most productive composers of his time. And even if one reduces his works to the most known and famous pieces, putting them all in one lens would simply be too much.

So I restricted myself to presenting to you piece of the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, one of the most known works of organ music. I could not leave out one of the Brandenburg concerti, the Brandenburg Concerto No 6. A lens about Johann Sebastian Bach without the St. Matthew passion would be impossible, and I could not resist from adding a piece of the Well-Tempered Clavier..

For all those of you interested in Bach's ackground I put a short video of a BBC documentary at the beginning of the lens. It gives some important facts and is very well made.

Enjoy the music!
