What To Look For In A Good Computer Repair Business
With the ever increasing reliance people have today on their computers, its no wonder they want to choose very carefully the people they allow to repair or service their PC. Our computers now contain the most valuable information - photos, documents, school or uni assignments, professional work and more. Making your computer one of your most valuable possessions. Therefore it stands to reason you dont want to just hand your PC over to any sort of dodgy computer repair business. Here are some tips on what to look for in a reputable computer repair service.
Tip 1 - Yellow Pages Listing
Chances are, if they are not a well established business, they will not be listed in the Yellow Pages. Lack of a listing shouldnt deter you from considering them, but it should definitely mean they require further investigation.
Tip 2 - A Good Website
Have a look online for their website. Does it look professional ? Does it list business phone and fax numbers ? Do they have contact email addresses or contact forms available on their website ? Do they have a map listing of their store ? Does their website look professional ?
Tip 3 - Labour Warranty
Any reputable computer service business will offer some sort of warranty on their labour repairs. The industry standard is 7 days. This means that if within 7 days of your computer repair or service something goes wrong, you can return your PC to the store and they are obligated to look at your machine again. However remember, this is only if the problem that arises is the same one that you originally took it in for - or it has arisen as a result of their service. They will not provide warranty on a different issue.
Tip 4 - Computer Service Report
You should be able to ask for, and be provided with, a report on any work carried out on your computer. This report may come in various forms such as notes made by the computer technician or it may appear as a checklist report. Regardless, the computer repair service should be able to tell you exactly what you have paid for in your service.
Tip 5 - Security
Your PC will no doubt contain a lot of personal information in the form of financial details and other personal data. You will need to ensure the store is secure and your machine is left in a secure place if being left overnight or longer. You don't want your machine being left unattended where other customers can access it or potentially tamper with or steal it.
Tip 6 - Legitimate Software
A good computer repair service will not, under any circumstances, install illegitimate copies of computer software onto your PC. They will be aware that you will be liable for fines of potentially thousands of dollars if you are found to have pirate software on your computer.
So make sure you check through the above when you are choosing somewhere to have your computer repaired! Getting computer support from the experts doesn't have to be stressful if you take the time to find a service that you trust.
