Computer Running Really Slow ?

Go through your photos, videos and any files that you have on your PC and clear out as much as you can. You will be surprised how much space this will create - mine created 7GB!

I know that you will have photos on there that you don't want to get rid of and you don't want to have to pay for them to be processed. I downloaded all my photos onto disks which I labelled and filed so that I can keep adding to them.

Next you will need to defragment your hard drive. This is a key factor to stopping your computer running really slow. Defragmenting tidies up all the little pieces that are left behind every time you, modify or move files around your PC. It makes them all compact and moves them all to exactly where they should be. To defragment my PC I went into the start up menu, accessories, system tools and defragment was in there. Mine had to run over night, so don't be alarmed by this. I would advise that you set it going at a time when you don't need to get onto the computer.

The other D is for Disk Clean Up. You will find this in the same place as your deframenting option. If you select it then it will go on to show you how much free space you can create by doing a disk clean up. This will delete things like temporary files etc. Be sure to uncheck anything that you do not want to delete.

Get rid of all your old internet history. When you visit a website your PC stores the address for you so that when you start to type it in your PC will find the address for you. This goes for forms and passwords etc. These hold up space on your hard drive so it is good practice to get into the habit of deleting them. This is done easily in Internet Options.

This is found by clicking on your start menu and then control panel. In here you will see the Internet Options icon, double click. In here you can clear you previous browser history and free up even more space.

Register Cleaner Programs was something that I had never even heard of before, but it was another thing that added to solving the problem of my computer running very slow. The registry size keeps growing when you use Windows. When the registry becomes very large, your computer's performance will be decayed and unstable.

It is vital to choose one of the Registry Cleaner Programs wisely as some of the programs can actually delete files needed to run your PC, which in turn creates other problems. I have included details of the one I used here. You can do a free scan to see how many files that you have that can be deleted. Mine came back with over 600! No wonder I had the problem of my computer running very slow.

Have you got a virus? This can cause you PC to run extremely slow and to keep shutting down. I ran an Anti Virus scan on mine and was lucky I didn't have one.

It prompted me though to get a decent Anti Virus and Spyware program installed on my system to block any viruses attacking my system in the future. I don't want to give them a chance to infect my computer.
