From the lens Computer Running Really Slow ?.

Is Your Computer Running OK?

Does it run slow or maybe it keeps shutting itself down ? Or maybe you are a computer genius and know exactly what to do to fix it ?

Nice lens, lot of good information, my computer usually goes well, but today, I have done a disk clean up, still slow and not loading right, maybe it's Squidoo, as there is not much going on, probably because of the Christmas holiday.
    Thanks for sharing. Blessed

Excellent advice! My computer was unbelieveably slow - and, like you, I'm addicted to Squidoo, so was not happy about the "wading through treacle" issue while trying to create lenses. A couple of weeks ago, I did most of the steps you've recommended here, and it's like a spring chicken again! Great lens! Blessed. :)

Better late than never.... finally compiled my SquidAngel Lens from my 'angel flight' back in the Fall of 2010 :-) So.... returning to tell you that this lens has now been 'featured on' and 'lensrolled to' "SquidAngel Blessings by an Elf".

It doesn't shut down but I'm sure that it runs slower than it used to. If I listen to online radio, it's brutal.

I also run AVG and Spyboot Search and Destroy regularly.

I now own a MacBook Pro and love it. I let my husband deal with the PC.

Great tips for keeping an aging pc fast, clean, and optimally performing. Most newer operating systems self defrag (no need), but xp and older require this to optimize disk space allocation.

I'd like to add, getting a little RAM (very cheap) can speed up a pc. If you're running a 32bit operating system stick with 3Gbytes (any more and your OS can't handle it).

64bit operating systems allow addressing for a HUGE amount of memory, 2^64 to be precise.
