An Introduction To Conan The Barbarian's Character

The heroic fantasy character Conan The Barbarian, was created by Robert E. Howard back in 1932. His character is also known as Conan The Cimmerian coming from his homeland of Cimmeria. He was first launched into the world when the American writers series of fantasy pulp stories were sold to Wierd Tales, an American fantasy and horror fiction magazine which was first published in 1923.

Since the magazine launch Conan has reached worldwide branding including Marvel Comics, Books, TV Programs, Films and finally the star of a number of Computer Games.

Conan The Barbarian's Character

Conan was born the son of a blacksmith on a battlefield, is from Cimmeria in the far north. He matured quickly through childhood and he was respected as a great warrior by the very early age of 15, having played a part in the destruction of the Aquilonian outpost of Venarium. After the outposts destruction, Conan got the thirst for adventure and so set out on extraodinary adventures which were chronicled by Robert E. Howard, encountering all manner of monsters, evil wizards and beautiful princesses and rescuing the odd maiden.


 


His adventures took him all over the lands of Hyboria, playing the roles of an outlaw and thief, mercenary and a pirate. As he grew older Conan began to enlist the help of other people in order to amass large units of men to take on much greater dangers and adventures, up until he reached his Forties, where he strangled the previous ruler on the steps of his great throne, in order to seize the crown, to make himself King Of Aquilonia, which was the most powerful kingdom of the Hyborian Age. Conan's adventures and quests test his abilities to the full leading to him performing heroic feats, however his motivation for doing so is about his own survival and for personal gain; thus displaying many of the characteristics of an anti hero.
