An introduction to concert backstage passes
Concert backstage passes are passes that have been specifically designed to grant access to concerts and music festivals, whatever the genre of music involved, from rock to alternative, electronica, hip-hop, country, jazz, classical, Christian, pop, folk, etc ...
Concert passes can usually be found in two formats:
Generally, they are laminated, feature the type of access granted and are designed to be hung around your neck. In the cases of very big acts, they can even have a picture and the name of the holder but this is quite rare.
Concert backstage passes can also sometime be limited to simple wristbands, the color of the wristband representing the type of access you are granted.

The 4 types of concert backstage passes
There are usually four types of backstage passes for concert:
· the All Access Pass is the most coveted pass. It will give you access to the show, the backstage area as well as the pre-show and post-show parties. Because of its importance, this pass is very restricted. All access passes are usually managed by the band management and reserved to the band, its entourage, its management, its crew as well as to the staff working at the venues where the shows are taking place.
· the Crew Pass is designed for the crew. The crew is usually composed of full-time employees as well as temps that are hired to help set up the stage, carry the gear, check tickets, etc %u2026
· the VIP Pass is a pass that gives limited access to the event and festivities. Vip concert passes are usually distributed for free or as part of paying packages to fan club members, fans, winners of contests and friends of the bands. This is definitely the pass you should seek as it not only allows to see the shows but also to attend the parties.
· the Press Pass is reserved for members of the media including journalists, music critics, photographers and big-time music bloggers.

How to behave backstage
Because people know I usually attend a lot of events where I can hang out with festivities, they always ask me if they can tag along, hoping to be able to meet some rock stars. But the truth is, I'm usually pretty picky about bringing guests, as there are some backstage ethics. Here are a few tips: if you wanna meet your favorite musicians, neither should you act hysterically nor be overzealous. While it's understandable that you might be excited, it's usually a turn-off for stars, unless you wanna get into their bed, which is another story.
You should show some restraint, respect their boundaries and be relaxed about it. Music stars don't like dorks so try to act and look cool. If you want to talk to them, try to say something interesting rather than some ass-kissing "you were great" as they hear this all the time. This will allow to get into a conversion with them and, if you wanna take a picture with them, they will them be more inclined to do it. Also don't get drunk, eat all the food or be obnoxious or the guards will kick you out pronto.
How to get backstage passes for concerts
With the outrageous prices for concert tickets and the usually scandalous fees which are added, getting a concert backstage pass certainly looks like a better and cheaper solution as it will allow you to see the show and attend the parties, usually for free.
The truth is that you don't need to live in Hollywood like me to be able to score some back stage passes. Getting a pass is actually pretty easy - you just need to know the ropes. While I can't tell you here how to get a backstage pass, you can find concert backstage passes guides that will cover this in details and will show you to get passes.
