HERE'S WHAT I THINK
Condo owners should not be allowed to rent there units.
Having owned and lived in a condo for 10 years I adamantly feel that an owner should not be allowed to rent out their unit. I have had to deal with renter ignorance, visitors parking in my assigned parking spot and most recently a shooting, executed by the ex-wife of a RENTER.
I have found myself up against an HOA Board(Home Owners' Association) who's key officers are all rental owners. In what once was an upper class complex I feel my nerves rising faster than my property value. What ignorance for someone to buy a condo simply for a financial stake. What a pompous way to go through life not giving any regard to honest, hardworking, responsible people who just want to be confortable and safe in their own homes.
What makes these people tick? Are they lacking a certain gene and was it replaced with one that insists on them consuming as much as they can while they're visitng this planet. Hey! Newsflash: You can't take it with you when you go!!!!!!!!!
Well, I hope you can appreciate my passion on this subject and back me with the simplest of commonsense.
This is what I mean.
- Florida today, the U.S. tomorrow.
- New Law Which Gives A Condominium Owner The Right To Avoid A New Restriction In Renting In Florida
- Can condo rentals be banned?
- Can the Board legally impose restrictions on leasing? Our Bylaws allow leasing of units, so long as the lease is for one year or more.
- Crime Free Condominiums
- In apartment communities, you typically have one owner (or an ownership group) and one management team, which has the ultimate authority over the land and all the rental units.
This is not true with common interest developments like townhomes and condominiums.
What do you think?
YOUR TURN!
Condo owners should not be allowed to rent there units.
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes, you're right!
No way, Monkeybrain!
BFuniv.com says:
Your condo association could require what you suggest - it is a voting matter.
Just be sure not to steal from those already invested by not grandfathering their interest. If not it is theft, and their forced selling will drive down the price of all units.
Also bear in mind that if you ban a form of ownership there will be less buyers for the units. That will also effect price in an adverse manner. It will also decrease your options if you decide to move.
Have you considered other options?
