Furniture to fit your small spaces.

With the ever rising prices of real estate, and the shift from suburban to urban living, many more people are living in condos and townhomes than ever before. It's due to this shift of a reduction in square footage, that we at Creative Home Furnishings have decided to focus on creating furniture which suits these smaller footprints.

Two of the furniture lines which we have developed: Boxwood & Tangent have very clean lines which better suit small spaces with an open plan. Aside from their striking good looks, the best feature of these Exclusive lines is that we can build them in any size or configuration required to fit your space. So no worries if you need a dresser narrower and taller, or if you need a buffet with extra drawers, or an TV stand that's only 36" wide. We can do it!

So if you have been looking forever for stereo stand to fit in between the wall, and the built in fireplace of your condo, then you can stop your search and find it here at Creative Home Furnishings. Condo furniture is our specialty.

Creative Home Furnishings is in the suburb of Coquitlam, roughly a 30 minute drive from downtown Vancouver, BC . Drop by and see us if you're in the area.

Distinguishing characteristics of Condo Furniture

Compact
Condo furniture is often not as deep as regular furniture, to help maximize your floor space, for example our Boxwood Condo E.T. unit is 5" shallower than our full size.

Why bother filling your space with extra cabinetry, if you are using a flat screen or plasma TV, and if none of the electronic components to your home theatre system exceed 12"?
Multi Functional
Why not have an ottoman which can also serve as a coffee table, and which may even have storage, or the indispensble sofabed to accomodate overnight guests?

Below is the Cologne ottoman, with ample storage.

Storage
One great way of utilizing every square inch, is by ensuring that you maximize storage space with a bed that has built in drawers, banish those dust bunnies, and reclaim your space!

(Or if you're really strapped for space, why not have 6 drawers per side, like the picture below)

Below is one of our many versions of customizable Tangent servers.

Clean Lines
The last thing that you need in a small space, is oversized, ornate, or fussy furniture. Straight classic lines, tend to lead to less visual overload.
For example you have the choice of:
a) An oak Buffet and Hutch with leaded glass, and highly decorative handles
b) A clean lined contemporary styled maple Server (like our mid-size Boxwood server seen below)

Both take up the same space. However the maple server will seem not as heavy as the oak piece, since it is more streamlined, and has a tighter finer grain which will appear less visually 'heavy'.

Lower
It is important to maintain proportion within a smaller space. Also, by maintaining open "sightlines" in a condo or townhouse where quite often, one room flows into the next, you can maximize the intial impression of the space.

How we "Do Condo"

- We have designed our own Exclusive lines of furniture. The contemporary clean lines and simplicity of design, perfectly suits Condo Living.

*** Our latest in-house designed addition:***

40" x 54" Tangent Dining Table with floating top and 20" self storing leaf

Below is our 48" Round Tangent table.

- We carry many other transitional and contemporary lines for all areas of your home.

- We do substantial Custom Work. Like this custom sized 5th Ave Entertainment Unit:

- We work in a variety of woods, but we find Maple lends itself best to a cleaner look due to its more uniform grain. A wide variety of stain options is available.

- Our furniture features sensibly designed storage. For instance:
We utilize full extension glides in our drawers which means that you can fully pull out the drawer and you can access every square inch.

Underbed storage. As seen below on our 5th Ave line of beds.

Small dining tables which can expand, offering you the flexibility to entertain larger groups when necessary. Many of our tables have self-storing leaves that store inside the table, the benefit is that they don't use up precious closet space.

- In addition to locally made solid wood furniture we carry some complementary lines that are great for Condos:

Large selection of Steel & Glass Tables - 30", 36" and 42" heights with seating to match.

Below is the Trapezia table with the Arca chairs, a solid welded combination, shown with a white starphire glass top.

Solid Bamboo furniture - very clean and "Light feeling"

Below is the Hazel table from Greenington.

- Selection of Sofa lines, focusing on Condo Size, ie
Not so wide leaving more wall space
Lower back, so as not to obscure sightlines and feeling of openness
Clean, contemporary designs (not your old Chesterfield)

Below is the Romeo sofa with chaise.

The objective of 'condo' furniture is to have impact with smaller scale, and to do it with style. We can help you to find pieces that will meet your needs, just bring in your floor plan, descriptions or samples of your flooring and other furniture, or even just a photo of your space.

If I lived in a condo I would buy smaller sized furniture, it's gotta be a pain to get it through the elevators when moving it in or out.
