Why Condoms?
Safer sex saves more lives than making people take abstinence oaths. People who make a "no premarital-sex" oath wind up just as likely as the non-oath takers when it comes to actually having sex. However, the oath-takers are 50% more likely NOT to use any birth control or safer sex methods than the non-oath takers, as the oath-takers most often have had zero education about birth control or safer sex methods.I took sex educator training in 2002 from San Francisco Sex Information and volunteered with their sex ed switchboard thru the end of 2005. I got asked a lot of questions about condoms and we got a lot of calls on Mondays from people who were having panic attacks due to something they did over the weekend where they didn't use them.
Yes, some condoms have holes, yes, a lot of people don't really use them correctly.... However, used correctly, they are a highly effective fluid barrier that prevents disease transmission and unwanted pregnancies.

Americans seem to have huge hang-ups about condom ads. Must be those Puritanical roots. However in the rest of the world, condom commercials not only exist but they have a sense of humor.

Mild reactions tend to be skin rashes, but people with severe latex allergies can go directly into anaphylactic shock, which can mean their airways begin to swell shut immediately on contact with the allergen and death can occur within minutes.
Anyone who must wear latex gloves on a regular basis should switch to vinyl or nitrile gloves to avoid long-term latex exposure. If you or a partner has a latex allergy, it means that safer sex measures will require condoms made from polyurethane. They are more expensive than latex condoms but they offer the STD protection that a lambskin condom doesn't.

Proof That Condoms Can't Really Be Too Small
I've heard guys say that they don't like to use rubbers because the condom is too small. Well, here's proof that male prophylactics technically do not run too small. You might want to try a different brand or shape if you don't like the ones you've used in the past, but "the condom's too small" is not a valid excuse.
