Apple TV | How Does it Work? Are you contemplating the purchase of a new, 2010 Apple TV? Are you wondering how complex the set up is? Here, we will learn the steps to connecting Apple TV.

The steps are few and simple. You will be up and running and enjoying the wealth of technology that Apple TV (2010) offers in now time at all!

For less than a $100 investment, you can own the newest entertainment unit from Apple. Apple TV allows your family to enjoy all the media in your iTunes account (music, video, etc...), stream movies and TV shows thru Netflix*, watch podcasts and YouTube videos, and more. You can view your photos straight from your PC or Mac or through MobileMe or Flickr.

Imagine watching your photos in a slide show format, set to music from your iTunes account while sitting in your easy chair with your feet up enjoying a cool beverage!

* requires a Netflix account

Communicating with your Computer(s)

Apple TV Your Apple TV unit needs to be able to communicate with your computer(s) also called "home sharing". You can accomplish this by using an ethernet connection or by connecting to your existing wireless network. Apple TV will automatically search for a wireless connection if no ethernet cable is connected in the port.

You will need your wireless network username and password to complete this step. You will be guided through this step on your television screen.

Important

Do NOT place anything on top of Apple TV. Objects can interfere with the wireless signal.

All Done!

What's next?

Apple TV in useThat's all there is to connecting Apple TV to your HD Television. "What's next?", you might ask.

Turn on your television. Now, select the input you plugged your HDMI cable into on your television. If you see a black screen, most likely you have chosen the wrong input. Remember above? My cable is plugged into the "HDMI 2" port. This is the input I need to select in order to view Apple TV.

Configuring your unit to sync and stream through your computer, setting up a Netflix account and then enjoying your newest addition to the family! These steps are also simple and straight to the point. You will get through them very quickly.

One very good thing about Apple, is their support. You are provided with a website containing forums where you can ask questions, research your question or ask for tech support. There is also an 800 telephone number you can call and speak with a real, live actual person! They will answer your question timely.

Does Netflix on demand, accessing your photos from your PC, playing music from your PC, listening to the web radio and more sound good to you?

It's all very simple and easy with Apple TV. For less than a $100 investment, you get all this and much more. I LOVE my Apple TV!

Environmentally Friendly - Energy Efficient

Go Green!

Go Green Light stickerApple TV pulls 6 watts of electricity from your wall outlet. This is less than almost anything else in your home.

DVD or Blu-Ray = 18 watts
Cable Box = 25 to 30 watts
Satellite Converter Box = 35 watts
PS3 Game Console = 380 watts
XBox Game Console = 160 watts

It stays cool without having a fan, so it's never noisy. And when it's not filling your living room with drama, romance, and comedy, it uses less power than a night-light.

Also:
Brominated flame retardant-free
PVC-Free
Meets ENERGY STAR 2.0 requirements for set-top boxes
