Please feel free to leave a comment. Some people have sent me emails from the Squidoo system. I would very much prefer it if you left a comment here if you have a question you want to ask me about the subject matter of this article as I very rarely answer private emails from this system. I'm happy to discuss my views here.

An interesting lens. I wouldn't have thought there would be many Pagan conservatives but the Protestants haven't always had a stranglehold on the conservative movement either.

Hi P.J. Interesting lens. I am an atheist and a small "l" libertarian. You bring an interesting perspective. I enjoyed your lens.

Merry Meet PJ and to all fellow CP's!
It is like the first warm breeze of spring after the long cold winter to have found this lens. Feels wonderful! And the content is excellent! I will be checking it frequently on breaks from my course studies (medical transcription by the way...).
    Bright Blessings!

    Hello Oakdragon,

It's great to see you here. Thanks for stopping by and for the compliments on my lens. I hope the you like the medical transcription course. It has been a good career for me.

    grannysage and ArawynWalays,

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting and thank you ArawynWalays for your service to our country. Staying out of people's relationships is such a core conservative issue. I think more conservatives are coming around to realizing that (except the extremely far right).

I'm eclectic and a solitary member of the ADF but sometimes attend grove events near me. May you both have a blessed Yule.

Greetings and Well Come. Tis Arawyn, SpiritMate of grannysage. I was woken from a sound sleep to make a comment here. I describe myself as fiscally conservative, socially independent. I support women and gay rights. I am a very patriotic, 2 tour of duty, Vietnam Veteran. I am a member of the Order of the Pentacle through Circle Sanctuary.

Wonderful lens. May all things well and good come to you and yours at this season of Yule, the Winter Solstice (twas our season before our reason.)

    CCG

It's the wee hours of the morning and I keep deleting my own comment! I woke up my husband to show him this. He always describes himself as a "fiscally conservative" pagan. Hurray for this lens. I'm sending him over to make his own comment.

Very well said, we can be any combination of beliefs... not everybody fits inside of the box and thankfully we live in a country where we are free to do so. Though I have never met a conservative pagan before I'm happy to know they do in fact exist!

Thank you for commenting. I agree that things that shouldn't fall within political party lines become rallying cries for politicians. I would think staying out of other people's lives including their relationships is a core conservative value, but far right conservatives disagree. It's maddening.

The same for gun ownership and gun control. I see it as a freedom issue not a political one, but it's being used as a political identifier.
  • robertsloan2 Aug 23, 2009 @ 11:41 am | delete
I'm glad you defined where you stand on several issues. The gun issue is something that's not really subject to religious dogma. Unfortunately, so many times in facing an election you wind up having to choose candidates who stand against freedom of religion and have a religious-right perspective. Thanks for reminding me that Pagan does not always mean Politically Correct.

I listed "left of center" as the best approximation of my political views, but they are a composite map of different ideas on many issues. Unfortunately there is no particular party or platform that shares my point of view since it's mature and considered rather than prepackaged or laid down as dogma. I never assumed all pagans would agree with me on anything.

Amusingly, some of the ideas that are now taken for granted as the way things are were radical when I was young, issues involving racism and women's equality were radical back then. Hpoefully homophobia iwll diminish too and freedom of religion will be real.

Now the Monster Raving Loony Party is a party I can get behind..lol. But seriously, I'm not really extreme either (at least I don't think so) which is one of the reasons I wrote this lens.

A very interesting look. I know that I run into problems with some Pagan groups because I am Pagan, but I am not a tree-hugging eco-warrior. I don't consider myself to be liberal or conservative. That's why I list my political affiliation at Facebook as Monster Raving Loony Party.

Nice lens on a great topic that needs addressing. I'm a Pagan Republican and am tired of getting the "evil eye" from other Pagans when it is revealed to them. Thanks for the resources.

Very well done. Lots of content. Your statement in regards to trees having souls and being pro-abortion was interesting, too... I've never met someone who held a position like that, but to call it hypocrisy I think was being generous, although true.

I've always wanted to explore paganism. I have always felt drawn to it, but have never known where to "officially" start. I realize that the purpose of this lens is more indepth than that, but am grateful I found your lens. Feel like I *know* someone to ask questions to. Great lens!
