Mostly I regret that we are borrowing from future generations. They have no voice in what we are doing to this country. At some point these trillions of dollars of debt will have to be repaid.. Printing money and borrowing heavily will have a consequence in the future that we will most likely regret in the form of higher interest rate, higher taxes and inflation.
I enjoy staying informed and trying to understand what the government's policies will do my future. We are in a a deep recession yet I do not have the confidence that Washington will do more good than harm. Typically when the government gets involved things become less efficient and more wasteful. With the amount of money that we are spending on bailouts, tax cuts and interest payments on current debt loads, I do not see how things will get better any time soon.

Conservative views from a fiscal conservative trying to be another voice heard against the forces that are destroying this country. Fiscal responsibility has been forsaken for a Socialist agenda that is threatens our Founding Fathers republic. We aim to thwart that.

I had looked forward to a change along with many other Americans. I thought the last 8 years to be rather dismal and not one that was reflective of fiscal conservatism. The deficit and debt for this country rose to over 10 trillion dollars while under the watch of the Bush administration and a Democrat Congress. Change could have done this country good.Unfortunately it looks like the we are getting the same amount of bad government spending policy under full Democrat control. They seem drunk with power and have unleashed a massive amount of government spending that generations from now will be paying for. All these bailouts and stimulus/spending programs...we simply do not have the money to pay for them.
I wanted to be another voice heard. All across the country their are people concerned at the direction our government is taking us. Obama/Pelosi/Reid have deployed almost $800 billion, with another $300 billion in interest payments don't forget, to stimulate the economy. Unfortunately they did a poor job and all we received for their efforts is earmarks and bad spending. It's the same as it ever was.
I do not believe that the Congress has we the people as priorities. Their first priority is to do whatever it takes to get re-elected. Their second is to service their party which means delivering on the agenda they have wanted to pursue for many years. All of which we can't pay for right now.
If we spend anything it should be direct stimulation to get small businesses hiring and the people spending. Nothing else matters. Not funding for NASA. Not funding for a damn mouse. Not funding for an art museum. True some of this spending might stimulate a job or two but nothing that makes spending millions or billions worth a handful of $40K/year jobs.
Republicans fought against this the best they could. Whether they were fighting for fiscal responsibility or simply to oppose anything the Democrats were proposing is debatable. What is not is that it was the right thing to do. Too bad they didn't stand up for the last eight years as well.

Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny
Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto

Liberty and Tyranny is Mark R. Levin's clarion call to conservative America, a new manifesto for the conservative movement for the 21st century.
In the face of the modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values, an attack that has steadily snowballed since President Roosevelt's New Deal of the 1930s and resulted in a federal government that is a massive, unaccountable conglomerate, the time for re-enforcing the intellectual and practical case for conservatism is now. Conservative beliefs in individual freedoms do in the end stand for liberty for all Americans, while liberal dictates lead to the breakdown of civilized society -- in short, tyranny. Looking back to look to the future, Levin writes "conservatism is the antidote to tyranny precisely because its principles are our founding principles." And in a series of powerful essays, Levin lays out how conservatives can counter the liberal corrosion that has filtered into every timely issue affecting our daily lives, from the economy to health care, global warming, immigration, and more -- and illustrates how change, as seen through the conservative lens, is always prudent, and always an enhancement to individual freedom.
