Dual Pressure Intake Engine
This animation shows the Dual Pressure Intake Engine (more info: http://www.inventhp.com) which uses a complex induction cycle. This proposed engine requires more port area than can be provided by conventional valves. But the Uniport Valve, a patented double acting valve, makes this additional port area possible. In this engine the cylinder is first filled with ambient air and then it is 'topped off' with air from a turbocharger. This reduces the load on the turbocharger, thus improving the overall thermal efficiency of the engine. Also, since there will be less compressive heating, the charge should be cooler and denser. The denser charge should help improve the volumetric efficiency of the engine and the lower temperature of the incoming air should help reduce heat losses to cylinder walls. Both of which should improve the value of an internal combustion engine
