May. 1, 2008: The famous DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 52, was found in a shed near her mother's manufactured home about 20 miles northwest of Tampa. Police said she left at least two suicide notes and other writings to her family in a notebook, but they did not disclose their contents. The mother found Palfrey, who had apparently hanged herself with nylon rope from the shed's ceiling.
Capt. Jeffrey Young of the Tarpon Springs Police Department said, "Blanche Palfrey had no indication her daughter was depressed to the point of being suicidal. There's no early indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the death."

Did she really commit suicide or was she murdered to keep her from revealing more names on her client list?

During several recent appearances on The Alex Jones Show, Palfrey said that she was at risk of being killed and that authorities would make it look like suicide. She made it clear that she was not suicidal and if she was found dead it would be murder.
"No I'm not planning to commit suicide," Palfrey told The Alex Jones Show on her last appearance, "I'm planning on going into court and defending myself vigorously and exposing the government," she said.

She was convicted on Tuesday, Apr 15 2008 of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering, but she had not yet been sentenced. The charges stemmed from her operation of the Pamela Martin & Associates escort service, a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite. Palfrey faced 57 to 71 months in prison. She was free pending her sentencing July 24.

Palfrey caused a sensation last year when she announced that to raise money for her defense, she intended to sell her phone records to any news outlet willing to pay.
"I am sure as heck am not going to be going to federal prison for one day, let alone, you know, four to eight years here, because I'm shy about bringing in the deputy secretary of whatever," Palfrey told ABC last year when she released phone records that revealed some of her clients. "Not for a second. I'll bring every last one of them in if necessary."

Sen. David Vitter has acknowledged being involved with Palfrey's escort service. But he has avoided follow-up questions.
Palfrey says Harlan Ullman, a military strategist who created the concept of "shock and awe" that the United States used to open hostilities against Iraq, was a regular client. Ullman has declined to discuss what he has called "outrageous allegations."
Randall L. Tobias resigned as a deputy secretary of state after acknowledging to ABC News that he used Palfrey's service for massages.

Palfrey had threatened to release the names of well-known clients of her upscale call girl ring in the nation's capitol, and had indicated that Dick Cheney may be one of them.

One of her former escort employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She was found hanged after allegedly committing suicide in January 2007 days before she was set to go to trial.
Last year, Palfrey said she, too, was humiliated by her prostitution charges, but said: "I guess I'm made of something that Brandy Britton wasn't made of."

Asked if the suicide was in fact murder, Palfrey told the Alex Jones Show in July 2007, "Well we don't know about that, there's two schools of thought - one says yes one says no,"
"People say that she was a very upbeat person, a very positive person that she was going into court, she was ready to fight them, that she absolutely was not going to give in and all of a sudden a few days before she was to go to trial she committed suicide and her family members and friends say this was extremely abnormal."
"She was not in a frame of mind to commit suicide, you know perhaps she knew something, there's been a lot of speculation about that," said Palfrey, "She had very little to lose, she wasn't going to go to jail, she'd been charged on a prostitution case," added Palfrey, noting that individuals involved in the call girl scandal possibly thought Britton was about to name names.

A few days after Britton's suicide, Palfrey wrote an email to Assistant U.S. Attorney William Cowden on February 1, 2007, warning the government about the bed they were all about to lie in concerning her own case. "The press will have a field day at each of our expense. Unlike Ms. Britton ... I am a ferocious fighter when need be.... I can state with unequivocal certainty this situation will be a very long and unpleasant one."

16 years ago Palfrey was arrested on prostitution charges, before her sentencing in that case she filed a court memorandum, in it she talks about her parents being in poor health which led to this statement:

"Conversely, I initially threw the towel in, so to speak, & gave up all hope. I wouldn't eat for the last two weeks in custody & seriously considered suicide (by starvation), as a viable option. The events of the previous 10 months had taken their toll & I truly felt I just couldn't take anymore. Yet, for some unknown and unexplainable reason, a reason I cannot verbally express, something inside me stopped this from happening, despite the fact I was mentally & emotionally spent."

Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt told FOXNews.com in a telephone interview:
"I think the media should be very cautious in treating this as a suicide."
Asked if he believed Palfrey was murdered, Flynt responded: "I personally believe that's what happened, but I have no proof."
Flynt said he believes that in her quest to avoid prison time Palfrey was prepared to release one or two final names connected to her case.
"She had a lot of names, and I know she was holding on to them for a reason."
He said he knew some of the clients' names, and they include big-hitters in the political and media worlds.
"Let me put it this way, there were more Democrats on it than Republicans," he said.

The manager of Palfrey's Central Florida condo said he spent time talking to Deborah Jean Palfrey on Monday as she packed to go to her mother's house and she did not seem suicidal.
The building manager talked with Palfrey Monday before she left for her mother's in Tarpon Springs. He strongly believes Palfrey's death was not a suicide.
"Jean Palfrey was a class act. She wore very good clothes. She was well educated. Her way out of this world certainly would not have been in an aluminum shed attached to a mobile home in Tarpon Springs, Florida," he said.
He said she often told him she believed she was being followed and he thinks there may have been some former clients of her escort service who wanted her dead.
"She insinuated that there is a contract out for her and I fully believe they succeeded."
She also asked him about making sure her condo fees would continue to be paid during what Palfrey anticipated would be six years in prison.
"She had one white paper file box that she told me had some important paper with her and then she just kind of raised her eyebrows like you're supposed to think oh yeah, that's all the information that she had on her business in Washington," he said.
