Hell Wants Him...
Constantine's a regular visitor in hell but he's determined to do everything he can to make sure he's not going to end up there permanently.
Angela Dodson's twin sister has just commited suicide but Angela doesn't believe it's as simple as that. Angela's positive some kind of occult group convinced her twin, Isabel, to kill herself.
There's one name that keeps cropping up when anything a bit "weird" happens.
Constantine.
"He who possesses the Spear of Destiny holds the fate of the world in his hands."

Hell wants him. Heaven won't take him. Earth needs him. Keanu Reeves plays him.
"I'm a suicide, Angela. When I die, the rules say I've got just one place to go... "
Now he's dying and he's determined to win God's favour.
"You are going to die young because you smoked 30 cigarettes a day since you were 15... and you're going to go to hell because of the life you took."
John has seen the other world- it's not enough for him to just believe.
He's not interested in helping Angela until he notices that she's very interesting to somebody or something else.
Can he commit one selfless act before he dies?
Can he uncover what the Spear of Destiny is going to be used for?

Water is the universal conduit that helps people slip between the worlds. To look for Isabel in hell, John places his feet into a bowl of water. He uses Isabel's cat to help him focus because cats are "half-in, half-out". To leave hell again John slaps a water capsule in his chest pocket.

We don't get to see Heaven in this film, however.
Constantine is set in Los Angeles. The first time we see hell is when John is in Angela's apartment. In the film her apartment is right next to the freeway and John walks out across a ruined, burnt up version of the LA freeway to look for Isabel.

- I did enjoy this film even though Keanu isn't my favourite actor, but he was convincing in this. The guy who played Satan was suitably evil. And the special effects were great. 4 out of 5 stars.
