Constant Ringing in the Ears
In order to find the right cure for your constant ringing in the ears, you need first to know what causes your tinnitus.
This lens will tell you what causes your constant ringing in the ears and how you can find a cure for it.
What Causes Constant Ringing in the Ears?
There are various medical conditions that cause it. These include:
- head injuries like skull fracture, whiplash injury and closed head injury
- metabolic disorders like hyperlipidemia, vitamin B12 deficiency and thyroid disorder
- ototoxicity to medications like aspirin
- presbycusis or hearing loss associated with age
- earwax impaction
- hypertonia or muscle tension
- circulatory problems like hypertension, atherosclerosis and malformation of capillaries
However, constant ringing in the ears have four main causes. Majority of its sufferers have either one or a couple of them as causes. These are:
Noise-induced cochlear damage
It happens when the tiny hairs in the cochlea get bent or broken because of sudden or constant exposure to loud noises. When this happens, these tiny hair randomly send electrical impulses to the brain, which is then is interpreted as sound. Thus, you hear ringing or buzzing sounds even though there is no external source.
Stress
Prolonged stress, grief or shock seriously affects the hypothalamus, which plays a crucial role in the production of essential chemicals in order for the body to function normally. When the hypothalamus is severed, these chemicals are not produced, resulting to unhealthy conditions, which include tinnitus.
Sinus problems or allergies
It is not the sinus problems or allergies that directly cause the unwanted sound. Instead, it is the medications that their sufferers take like antihistamines and antibiotics.
Meniere's Disease
An inner ear disorder, Meniere's disease makes its sufferers experience periods of vertigo and dizziness. Its known symptoms also include aching in one or both ears and tinnitus.
It is important that you determine what caused the constant ringing in the ears that you are experiencing. This is because its treatment is largely dependent on its cause. There are many sufferers that have not seen improvements in the treatments they are using and this is primarily for the reason that they are using the wrong treatment. There are cases, though, when sufferers make some trial and error with the treatments because determining what caused their tinnitus proves to be difficult.
