Construction Telemarketing

Telemarketing in the construction sector

Telemarketing is a service that many construction companies are using as a way to generate new enquiries and new business leads.

The construction sector currently is deep in recession and as work is scarce, construction companies need to use more proactive forms of marketing (such as telemarketing) in order to drum up business.

Historically many construction firms relied on word of mouth and recommendations for new work. Knowing the local brick layer or electrician was always handy as they had a few happy clients and were cheap. However as work has dried up and larger companies started delaying major contracts (for funding issues) this had a knock on effect down the food chain.

As construction firms have no real sales expertise, they have to rely on outside help. There are many telemarketing companies around that can help with lead generation and prospecting, which is what is needed in many cases.

This may involve in following up construction sales leads (such as the ones from Glennigan or Barbour ABI) or in cold calling to generate new ones.

There is still a lot of work out there, however as there are so many construction companies around the UK, there is not enough for everyone. Only the most proactive and determined companies will survive the recession.

Construction marketing companies can help UK construction firms in generating new sales enquiries that can hopefully turn into new business.

UK Construction Industry Outlook For 2012

The UK government is looking to invest more into housing and building projects in the forthcoming year; however the outlook is not good. The boom years of the late 90's and early 2000 have long gone and banks are unwilling to release the kind of funds that are required for capital building projects.

The outlook for construction and property companies in the UK is not a good one; during the boom years many new property companies started up, as things have quietened many have closed.

The result is there will be fewer construction & property companies, but more projects to go around.

Construction Slow Down In 2011

The construction industry has been in decline since 2011 as many larger clients have either cancelled or delayed larger construction projects. This has filtered down to smaller projects and the smaller construction companies (that are reliant on day to day projects) are the ones that suffer and close due to not having the resources to weather the storm.

Overall the UK has seen a rise in UK job losses much of which has been based in and around the construction sector (support businesses as well as mainstream construction companies). Like any previous recession, things do get worse before they get better, more people out of work means that decision makers and money makers are more cautious about spending (add the media into this, then with a little scare mongering, the problem only intensifies).

Telemarketing therefore in the construction sector is hard work as the number of potential tenders going through are much less than previous years.
