How to Clean your Contact Lenses

What I have seen in practice is that there are normally two types of Groups. You have people that fall in Group A and then you Got People in Group B.

I ask everyone of my patients on how they clean and store their lenses and depending on their response....Well Read on to find out

Yes you read this right! Just think of it this way. I ask many of my patients how they clean and store their contact lenses. Most of my patients change their solutions on a nightly basis so it is alway fresh. Just like changing your underwear on a daily basis. In actuallity most people once they put their contact lenses on in the morning they dump out the solution and rinse the case out.

Doesn't that sound gross...To wear the same underwear for a few days before changing to a new pair. Are you quilty of this????? In the past few months I have seen more of these patients that tend to re-use there contact lens solutions. Same concept!!!! YES you read it right. I had one patient that used the same solution in the case for more than two weeks before putting new solution in the case. Just imagine this patient wearing the same underwear for two weeks. PRETTY GROSS!!! No wonder this patient complained of painful and irritated eyes. That was the extreme but most that I ask goes anywhere from two to three days before changing solutions.

I actually had a patient that just looked at me eye to eye and said "What's the Big Deal". First I thought she was just joking but she was dead serious. She did not see the need to change the contact lens solution in the case on a daily basis important. Luckily in my 20 years of practice I have only met a few of these type of patients. But then that is one too many.
