Container Gardening is a simple alternative to a full sized garden

I use the Mittleider micro nutrients in my container garden.;I just add two tsp of the weekly feed to a gallon of water and the water my containers daily..; You can literally grow in sand with the Mittleider nutrients (weekly feed) I also mix in 1 tsp of Mittleider pre plant mix in to each container.
I use 5 gallon pails for my container garden, they are free and portable.

One key to container gardening is proper drainage, make sure you have at least five holes in the bottom of larger containers.; Use common sense remember plant need to breath and if they can not drain the excess water they will drowned or rot.

Maybe the Mittleider nutrients would help my container gardening efforts. The last couple of years haven't been productive at all - and I miss my fresh tomatoes!

This looks like a good resource. At this point, I am just growing one basil plant in a very small studio apartment -- too micro for a lot of those resources. My plant will probably need to be repotted next year, so I will be studying up on containers. (Also, there was a potted rosemary the other day, watching me from the window of a store...)

Nice lens. I have to look more into the micro nutrients.

I've been growing tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and eggplant, as well as cucumbers & squash in containers. Sometimes they do better than in raised beds. For me the ground is out of the question even though I have a large fenced garden area. The fence can't keep the gophers out the way a container or raised bed can.
