No wonders every furniture pioneer designer had an architectural background...In this lens i wiould like to share with you the story of Charles Eames,one the most influencial names in our modern furniture history and some of his iconic furniture designs which stood up the test of time and still inspiring artists and furniture designers and providing vision and style to our modern furniture and contemporary living space.find out about this unique designer and how did he revolutionise and change completely the concept of furniture and started what we call now the modern classic furniture designs.

The Legendary Charles Eames was a historical figure in Architecture and one of the top poineer designers in

Eames born in 1907 and died 1978. He started his early career at Washington University studying architecture. Few historic sources claimed that his views and designs were rejected by the university authorities, because they were so modern and advanced at that time. Charles Eames married in 1929 with his first wife Catherine Woemann and year later they had a baby girl called Lucia. The Eames family moved in 1938 to Mitchigan.Charles Eames joined the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he became an outstanding university lecturer and a former head member of the industrial design department. According to his early works,Eames furniture designs were clearly influenced by the Finnish architect designer Eliel Saarinen who was the father of Eero Saarinen .No wonder charles Eames had a very close relationship with Eero Saarinen and participated together in some unique historical design projects. In 1941 Charles Eemea and Catherine Woemaan divorced and soon he got remarried with his long term colleagues Ray Kaiser who became Ray Eames and shared together their lifetime passion of art and designs. They moved to Los Angeles California where they worked and lived the rest of their lives.Ray Eames had a major contribution in Charles Eames projects and designs and was so involved in almost of all his architectural and furniture work and designs. Together with Eero Saarinen ,Charles Eames designed a price winning furniture for New York Museum of Modern Art.The competition was a nationwide project to find the best piece of furniture designs and the program was called * Organic Design in Home Furnishing * Both designer created a very new techniques . For the first time in history.Their work involved a new methods of wood molding and plywood products.Soon Charles Eames became the focus of the USA military and in 1949 was called in to implement his new techniques in creating the first modern pilot seat. During the fifteens ,the Eameses family contributed widely and deeply in home furniture designs ,followed and pioneered all new technologies related to architecture and home furniture such as fibreglass technology,the wire mesh technology and plywood products.

Husband and Wife Charles and Ray Eames pioneered and introduced all new technologies to their furniture designsl.They designed furniture made of pollywood,fibreglass,plastic,wire mesh,aluminium and inspired artists with a new innovative techniques by using these new technologies and created a completely new concept about the way we visualise and design our furniture and living space.
