Contraband OST album released thru Back Lot Music
Mark Wahlberg leads the cast of "Contraband", the film about a security guard and former smuggler who is forced to revert to his old ways when his brother runs afoul of his ruthless, drug-dealing boss. The film, directed by Baltasar Kormákur, is a remake of Óskar Jónasson's 2009 Icelandic film "Reykjavik-Rotterdam" which Kormákur starred in.
Others in the "Contraband" cast are Kate Beckinsdale (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Underworld: Awakening) and Giovanni Ribisi (The Rum Diary, Avatar). The supporting cast include Caleb Landry Jones, Ben Foster, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Diego Luna, Robert Wahlberg and Jacqueline Fleming.
Scoring for "Contraband" is Clinton Shorter, who scored Neill Blomkamp's 2009 film "Distirct 9" and Carl Bessai's "Cole" the same year.
Shorter was nominated for Breakout Composer of the Year in 2009 by the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) for his work in "District 9".
The "Contraband" soundtrack album has been released through Back Lot Music and includes Shorter's original score, as well as several songs from the movie by artists including J Roddy Walston and the Business, Eli "Paperboy" Reed and The True Loves, Ryan Shaw, The Heavy and Big Head Todd & The Monsters. The album is available in digital format from iTunes and Amazon.
"Red Nation" by Game which is featured in the film's trailer is not included in the soundtrack album.
